Decent bluetooth MP3 player, perfect for running and the gym
Short Version=======The Hcctoo player is actually a Ruizu X26 which isn't a brand that I have used before so was a bit of a gamble whether it would be a suitable alternative to my once favoured Sandisk Clip. So far it has been a great replacement which with the expandable memory and decent audio hasn't disappointed me yet.Build quality=============First impressions is that MP3 player resembles a Sandisk Clip I previously had, which due to its lack of bluetooth meant that it was retired from active gym service.Like the Sandisk the overall build quality is really good with no creaking made when squeezed hard. The clip being one of my minimum requirements, is strong and holds on to the band of my shorts without any concerns of it falling off mid run or even when jumping around. The 5 button joypad again seems of good quality which should hold up to my regular track changing. In use the actual buttons have a decent amount of feedback and click plus are very responsive too. I prefer the two button separate volume buttons over integrated within the main controls as it saves on fiddly and accidental menu button clicks resulting in more gym time.Software========The software is fairly easy enough to master after a little playing around with the joypad; this no different to most text based menu systems. The main menu options lead in to sub selection of configurable settings or in to one of the features, Calendar, FM, Recorder, ebook, as well as shortut to last played which helps for instant replay. The player will remember the last point in a track that was listened even when turned off. Something that comes in handy with long DJ mixes that I listen to as the arrow buttons are only for next and backward track changes. Changing tracks of course will not save this point.I like the various options that player will play music based such as by folder (local/card), Artist, Genre, and also playlist. Of course meta data will be required from some options. M4B audiobooks are not compatible with the player but not a major issue for myself as its a player for the gym where as audiobooks are on my phone or tablet. One little feature I like that I haven't had or noticed on other MP3 players is that when playing music files, with imbedded data, the lyrics will scroll across the bottom of the LCD screen. I finally know the words to Blue's Rise which is one of the sample tracks on the player. As per most music players, audio settings can be adjusted including having the option of using either a user defined equaliser setting as well as one of the various presets. The radio has a good FM reception when using wired headphones with the wire acting as the antenna.I like the expandable memory option giving extra memory potential and also portability for when I share micro SD cards between devices. Potentially up to 72GB worth of music is perfect as it means that I don't have to clear out any music to make way for new including more Flac formatted music which tends to be bigger in file size. The simple method of drag and drop makes adding music to the MP3 player a breeze including file and folder management such as deleting and moving files.Audio=====Audio quality with the packaged earphones is rarely something to shout about but using my Coredy Bluetooth earphones, Shark Claro headphones as well as my AKG wired headphones, using either the user defined equaliser settings or even one of several presets, the audio and volume has been pretty impressive and enjoyable.Battery=======Battery has been pretty good, even when mostly used on bluetooth and high volume, giving me several days of use. Using wired headphones the battery life lasts even longer. No charger is included with the MP3 player, which is typical of USB powered devices, but a USB charge cable is and works with any of the phone chargers or computer USB ports in the house.

Great music player but could have been better
Promising device. Bought this to replace my old Sansa Clip mp3 player as it looks similar and even has FM radio and Microphone voice recording. What spoils it is the software menu options which cripple the device with inconsistent menu navigation, a complete culling of music playback options when using Bluetooth which limit you to playing all only, and it does this by playing track 1 of all albums, followed by track two of all albums etc, which is frankly idiotic. The FM Radio can record stations but finding the option to do this is not obvious. The radio has an Auto tune function which stores stations into its channel pre-sets memory of which it has 30slots. You can manual adjust these although most of the channels it finds are side channels of stations it finds so you will need to re-assign the stations as you find them if you like listening to FM radio. Not many to choose from these days with DAB radio being more dominant in UK.When using headphones the music navigation seems adequate and playback is good fidelity except when played through the supplied headphones which you should dispense with at the earliest opportunity as they have very poor frequency response although it you just like loud low frequency noise then these should suffice. Bluetooth is also disappointing as the quality of the audio is very poor. Sounds like the audio is being amplitude clipped regardless of the volume setting used on either the player or the BT speaker and I know it's not the speaker as it plays perfectly with my Samsung Tablet.I'm still trying to work out why much of the music I've loaded is not showing up. The device simply acts as a USB mass storage device on your computer which allows albums to be easily copied across. It allows menu navigation by folder which is good except in Bluetooth mode. File transfer rates are slow even for USB2 so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to load it with all the music you want. The onboard 8GB memory is plenty for me as I can store all my preferred music. The microSD card port allows even greater expansion of up to 64GB although I've only tried it with a 4GB card from my Sansa Clip so far. The USB port is Micro B style which is more in line with most Smart phones and devices of today. Not sure of battery life as I've not tried playing it for 12hours yet and I'm sure the BT will kill the battery quicker. Will update this as soon as I have the figures.Construction is compact, robust and very light but the circuit board or battery seems to rattle inside the enclosure which is not so good. This is marginally thicker than the Sansa Clip by about 3.2mm at the hinge end with the body at 2.5mm thicker.On/Off control is with a slide switch which will probably be a weakness in the design.I don't know if these can be software upgraded but it sadly needs it and I sincerely hope it does as it has the potential to be really great.
