I think these trash cans are great but there is a little room for improvement.I like them so much I bought a second one. The first I use just for my cat's waste. I used to just use a 4 gal trash bag and tie it up and keep adding to it for about a week but this is so much easier. My first complaint, and it's minor, the sensor is very sensitive. If I walk past it and my arm is hanging and crosses over the sensor, it opens. Not sure how they can fix that but it is a minor complaint. Second, I think it would be awesome if they did away with the need to use AA batteries. These days there are so many things that are powered by Li Ion or Life Po batteries and Li Ion can be recharged hundreds of times for and Life Po, thousands. Throw-away batteries are a thing of the past. Third, sometimes the lid doesn't come down so I have to push the open button and then the close button. Again, a very minor complaint. Fourth, first I bought the white 4gal trash can, then a few weeks later I bought the black one. I found out the plastic ring for the black one was white, not black. Yes, another minor complaint. And Lastly, it would have been nice if they had the 4gal trash cans in gray. All in all, I like them but as we all know, nothing is perfect and as such, I felt I should voice my complaints, albeit very minor ones. In fact, 'complaint' isn't really an accurate term now that I think about it, more like suggestions for improvement. Six week update. I've already had to replace the batteries in the first one I bought. I can see this is going to get expensive with all the disposable AA batteries. I'm going to try rechargeable batteries.

UPDATE March 27, 2026: This is the end of the trash can. The motor has finally given out, replaced the batteries and the lid just does not lift all the way. I took the screws out and inspected the motor. Such a simple motor, the fact it lasted almost 3 years of use in a very active bathroom, adults and kids. It is time to replace. We have been very happy with this can. A little problematic getting the bag to sit when we first bought, but as my original write up, this wasn't rocket science. We had success with the use and ease in replacing bags and keeping this running, and the battery use, 2 AA, has been limited, I think we've only replaced batteries twice, I can think of, in the last 3 years, maybe around once a year. And now, 3 years since the original purchase, it is time to replace, the motor is skipping, wear and tear of time. We will buy another one of these, the price is good, and hope the next lasts 3 years again. PURCHASED June 15, 2023: We don't throw away a lot of trash in the bathroom, but we do go through some sanitary products that work best in hands free environment, with the use of scented bags. Skeptical of the reviews of product, I took a chance and bought one. Not the easiest design to put together, but not rocket science either. 3 piece design, the trash can, the edge frame for the bag, and the motion sensor with lid top. The edge frame is an interesting idea, but its not quick replacement, pull bag and off you go. The edge of the bag goes around this, and any excess bag at the edge fits through a hole at one end to tighten the bag in place around the edge. This now sits into the basket, and the motion sensor with lid fit right over this, essentially hiding this edge frame, you never realize its there holding the bag in place as you look at it. Works, but not quick and easy. The sensor is hands free, but likes to play as you take it apart to replace the bag. As we have this between the toilet and the shower, this will sometimes open if we swing our arms too wide around the toilet, or if the towel hanging from the shower door swings over the can. However, this has proved very useful otherwise, and rather efficient. 2 months in use and the same set of batteries, we are not experiencing some of the issues other buyers seem to have. Overall, we are very happy with this product and would buy another.

I bought this to keep my dog out of the garbage- it works incredibly well! It is so easy to get to open with the motion sensor too!

Got a 2 pack and one is not working. Turns out it was due to flawed Amazon basic rechargeable batteries.

I already had one and I bought another one for my mother-in-law it is super comfortable apart from the fact that it looks very good and aesthetic in the bathroom it is very clean it has good quality its battery lasts an eternity I can confirm it because mine has been with its batteries for a year or more and I just changed them but super useful

Perfect size for the bathroom. Works great and looks great. We've had it about a year-ish and haven't had to change over the batteries yet. It's a little bit sensitive, I wouldn't put it in an area you walk past as loose clothing can be enough to set it off. It has to be off in a corner. But otherwise great. The cats love putting their face over the sensor and setting it off lol, they love the game.

As a germophobe, I wanted a few things in my bathroom that were functional without being touched. I searched Amazon for days until I found this and felt it was exactly what I was looking for and the price was right (at least it was for me). It is small, but I think it’s a reasonable size for my washroom, and I empty it frequently enough to appreciate the size. The lid isn’t sensitive, and doesn’t open unnecessarily but is easy to open when I hover my hand directly over it. I’ve been using the same battery for over four months now and it is still going strong, which is nice since batteries aren’t cheap.

Work perfectly even after 2 years.
