Love this CD! The music is actually from piano rolls that Scott Joplin played. Well worth the money!

This disc is a real gem, with its companion "Elite Syncopation".The original rolls are executed with a vintage piano-reproducer Welte-Steinway 1910, and performed part by Scott Joplin himself (six pieces in total for the two CD)and part by other period pianists.It is a journey in the earth of American Classic Music, the link between the european salon music and the afro american traditional, with a strong classical compositional background as Scott Joplin himself was proud to say. You can listen to it with the real performing style and with an original piano.A revelation.

Interesting. But the more I listen to piano rolls, the more I hear what other reviewers didn't like. glad it was inexpensive.

Come si fa a recensire un simile capolavoro? Io sinceramente non mi sento all'altezza. Posso solo dire che se si è amanti della musica e del jazz in particolare non si potrà non amare e non avere questo cd nella propria collezione

演奏・録音ともにより完成度の高いものを求めるなら、いまもジョルジュ・リフキンのCDが一番いいと思う。ただ、このCDはやはりラグタイム好きなら必聴。ジョプリンはクラシックを学び、私のラグタイムは楽譜通りに演奏しなさい、と言っていたらしいけど、ご自身の演奏を聴くとリズムもメロディの結構崩してるしテンポも動くけど、それがまた味わいにも感じる。もっとも、これは他の方も書いているけどピアノロールのせいかもしれない。決して聞きずらい音ではないですが、ある種の「自動ピアノ」であるわけで、それがまたノスタルジックな味わいを醸し出す。私がもし飲み屋を経営していたら絶対BGMでこのCD流したいな。そしてサイレント映画を画面でぼーっとBGVに。と思って、実際、家で酒を飲みながらこのCDをかけて、キートンのサイレント映画とかを流してみたら、これが中々会う。もしよろしければ皆さんも一度やってみてください。
