Review: Start your own sculpture gallery - This is a superb art work, OK it is something to hang on the wall, but to me it is more of a sculpture than a picture. Sizewise, at about 16 inches x 11 inches, it is big enough to be noticed without being too dominant. It was very well protected on its journey to me, in a sturdy box with good protection to the corners. It certainly looks and feels like an individually finished piece. Geographically, you would never pass an exam if you produced something like this, but that is not what it is about, although it is of course instantly recognisable as a world map. And, it does seem to be quite substantial and well put together. I particularly like the 3D effect that it achieves, as all of the land masses are fixed about a quarter of an inch or so above the background, and there is a clear gap behind them, giving a great shadow effect which can be enhanced by strategically placed lighting. The land masses also have contours, which adds even more interest, and there is a nice textured finish to the surfaces as well. Review: Four Stars - good quality metal work
