Regulator not set to the correct pressure
Pump rebuild kit is sold as a direct Polaris replacement. While all the parts do fit, the regulator was factory set to an output of 50 psi. Polaris requires 56 to 60 psi. This resulted in the ATV stalling every 45 seconds. Thankfully the pressure regulator in the kit is adjustable. With some trial and error I was able to get the regulator set to a steady 58 psi. This involves removing the pump from the tank, removing the regulator from the pump body, adjusting it and reinstalling several times until the correct pressure it achieved. Not for the average do-it-yourselfer.
