It's not hard plastic like you would think. Its squishy. It pulls your hair when you use it on your arms, I used it on my husband and it pulled his hair as well. It's hard to roll because of it's being squishy material.

How hard is it? Are we talking rubber ball firmness or plastic ball with some rubber wrapping it? Thanks
