What is better, this or a gel?

Depends what you are treating, and the level of protection you require, I use this product for velvet and suede boots, shoes and bags I find it provides the protection needed, I wear my suede boots in all weathers and this stops water damage or staining. If you are treating leather however a gel or cream will condition the leather better but if you are treating suede,canvas, velvet or nubuck I'd suggest the spray will give you better results. Does it work on synthetic leather like Nike Air Force 1 trainers? Will it damage or change the colour?

This product is suitable for all types of materials. So yes it will work with your sneakers and shoes. Do not color or change the color.

Does it work with canvas bag?

Hi, yes, it can be used on all materials, but this one is best on leather products. I would better recommend you Carbon Pro which has modern technology. Thank you.

Has anyone tried it on the jute base of espadrilles?

I use Carbon Pro for this it works on any material and forms a protective layer to stop water and marks.
