This is a second one I bought and they are good ,the only downside to it is it's hard to clean out as the inner bit doesn't come out

Firstly be sure to change the packaging option to "conceal item with amazon packaging", this gives that added protection whilst it's in transit (we all know what can happen), so I received this in perfect condition. The fryer is nicely built and surprisingly lightweight, I purchased a 5 litre of sunflower oil with this which you can find on here (fillipo berio sunflower oil) for £11, this is a great oil and a healthier way to fry. The handle mechanism works well, but it does seem a bit fragile, so use it gently and it should be fine. The lid has no removable filter, just a strange series of metal coils inside the filter part? Not sure how this filters? But I always put a damp dish cloth over the filter vent whilst frying and this will collect the moisture. The lid is also removable so easily washable. BE WARNED! The spring that opens the lid is too strong (rookie design error) so when you press the lid open button it springs back too quickly and rocks the whole unit backwards! This is obviously a bit dangerous with hot oil, so Im sure to hold a finger on the lid before you press the open button. Other than that, it works great and my crinkle cut chips and battered onion rings taste great!! Loses 1 star because of the lid spring. At £28, you can't go to wrong really. Ps,,, if you have a spare dinner tray, I recommend you use it (see pictures), this will save your work surface from oily gunk and water and is easily washable. Very nice product.

I was a little apprehensive reading some of the reviews of this product, so I was definitely surprised and happy with it when it arrived and used a couple of times. My main reason for buying the item was I needed a smaller chip fryer as we are only 2, and something that can fit into my already full to the brim cupboards. This little chip fryer was perfect for that. I read comments that the fryer only cooks one portion but to me that’s an extra large portion of chips from the fish and chip shop that is something I usually share. So in effect in can easily cook 2 portions of restaurant sized portions not fish and chip shop large portions. Yes the window does steam up so you can’t really see the chips but no hardship opening and lifting the tray to view the chips. The lines inside the unit clearly mark the oil capacity. If you overfill the oil it will overspill. Otherwise no spillage. Found this out first use, no issues on second or third use. It’s so easy to clean to. After use I simple fill the unit with soapy water after I’ve removed the oil, and let it soak for a while, then pour out, and with the damp sponge wipe clean. I love the way the handle can easily detach and be placed inside the tray with the unit, and how the cable also fits into the handle area, so when putting away can easily store inside, very compact. Yes the basket can bend, but not sure why you’d deliberately try and push it? I literally just take it out, and soak in a bowl, job done. To remove the oil I simply pour the out into a funnel and back into my chip oil bottle. You can use the oil again a number of times depending on the oil you use. I just literally tilt the unit down into my funnel and pour from the corner down. Simple. Great little fryer. Definitely recommend for a couple or single person who just wants to fry chips.

Very basic which is what I wanted, a few different temperature settings with small pictures of items like chips or chicken and their suggested cooking temperatures, the basket handle locks into place firmly enough but there is a rectangular tab that attatches the handle and this can slip sideways causing the handle to suddenly flop loose, not a major problem just make sure it all looks in line first. Cleaning is easy, just tip up into a waste oil receptacle, better than the systems with a drain tube that gets horribly clogged. It heats up quick and cooks chicken thighs or drumsticks in about 10 minutes. Obviously not a healthy way to cook, an air fryer is far better but occasionally you cant beat deep fried chicken, no mars bars thank you very much! Hold enough for 2 people but 3 would be a stretch. Great fryer, cheap and easy to use.

Reasonable product for price fries well & fairly easy to keep clean. Take care with inner oil container that has razor sharp edges. My last Swan frier expired after 3 years with smoke coming from the temperature control.
