Used in freshwater river to snorkel for agates. Dove below the water, the check valve worked fine. I wish the snorkel were taller, sometimes while looking around I'd dip the tip in the water. The retention clip kinda holds the snorkel parallel to the water when you're floating, rather than straight back (up when facing down) behind the ear... which would put the most of the snorkel above as water. Note as well, I've never done this before, these are my observations based on my experience. I did find clipping the retention clip to the place where my strap splits as it goes behind my head. I could be missing out on how to properly clip my snorkel on?

I've never had a snorkel in my life so I guess I cannot compare it to a different one but I will say I was highly surprised. The snorkel did what it had to do and it felt so cool to breather under water. If you go under it shuts off and no water gets in but either way I am always mindful when I breath. Make sure you set it up correctly each time so no mishaps occur. I got the black with green tip which my husband said you could see in case someone or maybe a boat gets near the bright color alerts people of you but either way I wouldn't go too far in to the beach for safety reasons. I will say having the silicone mouth piece does feel strange and you have to position it well so it doesn't bother your teeth and gums. I am not sure if every snorkel has this issue. But it isn't a big deal just need to get used to the feeling. The snorkel does have a piece which opens so you could put your goggles in. I do worry it will break since it doesnt feel too strong but at least for this one time use it did work and I had absolutely no issues.

I use this for lap swimming at the gym. It works well. I wish the mouthpiece was a little smaller it is kind of uncomfortable. It is easy to use and I have had no trouble with the clip others complained about.
