Roughneck ROU64379 Contractor's Tamper, Earth Rammer for Compacting Asphalt, Shingle, Earth & Sand - Square 200x200mm / 8x8"

Let me say this first and foremost, a petrol Wacker plate is the perfect tool! This is a decent substitute if you want to spend your spare time compacting type 1. The build quality is robust. I managed to compact down 3" of type 1 and sand in a 1.5m x 3m area in about 4 hours, over a period of several lunchtimes, ready to lay a patio. Obviously, your compaction is more consistent with a Wacker, but for the price of a day's hire, I'm left with something I can use in other projects. It will fatigue the hell out of you, but this is a prefect exercise for your core, back and shoulders. I caveat this by saying, if you're not willing to do the repetitive stroking and striking, just get a plate. I wasn't prepared to lift a plate up a seriest of steps on my own.

Had no access for anything more mechanical, so used to level ground when landscaping garden. Hard work but good weight to do the job and cheaper than hiring machines. Came ready to use and have lent to several neighbours who had small ground to cover. Sits in the corner of the garage and doesn't take up too much room. May seems like common sense but those not used to working with a tamper, if you value your toes wear steel toe caps. It's heavy enough to hurt when accidentally let go of, let alone putting effort into it. Ouch.

Does exactly what a roughneck tool shuld do. Nice wide base. Good weight, absolutely solid, feels indestructible. I used this to pack down a small crush and run base where a whacker plate machine would have been unsuitable. It did the job great. Was delivered next day, but in a huge box which felt unnecessary although I found a great use for the big box now. Handle is nice and grippy too. Overall great value for money, just don't hit yourself in the shin with it ! I rate this 9.5/10 for value for money and robustness.

The Roughneck ROU64379 Contractor's Tamper proved to be both budget-friendly and highly effective for the job at hand. Its reasonable price point caught my attention, and its performance didn't disappoint. This tamper did a fantastic job compacting the soil and ensuring a solid foundation for my project. The build quality and design provided the necessary weight and stability, making the task much more manageable.

Sturdy and very useful. Rubber Grip can be a little longer for ease of use.

Dose what it ment to do and that's great the handle shaft is about 1meater and with a tampering head about 5 to 8 inch but still dose the job great

Ich habe mit diesem Stampfer meine Terasse planiert, welche etwa 50 qm umfasste. Es ist zwar doch recht anstrengend, so eine große Fläche mit dem Stampfer zu verdichten, da der Stampfer doch ein gewisses Gewicht hat, was benötigt wird, um den Boden verdichten zu können, aber das Ergebnis fand ich sehr gut. Auch die Qualität des Stampfers selbst finde ich hervorragend. Auch nach dem Terassenprojekt habe ich nicht das Gefühl, dass ich ihn jetzt wegschmeissen muss. Ganz im Gegenteil, er wirkt immer noch total massiv, obwohl der Griff aus Glasfaser besteht. Rückblickend kann ich diesen Stampfer nur empfehlen und würde ihn jederzeit wieder kaufen.

Heavy duty, does the job. Not flimsy at all. Happy to have purchased.

I did bang the ground with it as hard as I can and still in one piece and did compact the ground so this one gets a thumb up.
