A nice lightweight dog lead
I was pleased with this dog lead, I like to clip my dog to it while I'm gardening so it doesn't run out into the road. That said, a local fox chewed through the lead one night when I forgot to bring it in, so it's not as durable as I'd have liked. Still, it's a nice, lightweight dog lead.

useful training product
Purchased this to start recall training with my young rescue lurcher Shadow. I opted for the 10m line since he can accelerate from a standstill to flat out in the blink of an eye. Anything shorter would have been no use as I didnt want him (or me) getting an awful jerk due to running out of lead if he decided to take off! The length can take a bit of getting used to as regards tangles but once you work out your own technique for handling it its fine! I have found it safest to use the line attached to a harness rather than a collar (to avoid neck injuries to the dog) and have been using it in conjunction with a clicker and treats.I opted for the thicker line width as Shadow is quite a tall dog and weighs 20kg. Owners of small dog breeds would find the thinner version more suitable. I already have a long line nearly identical to this for lunging horses and used it when training my last dog but always found it to be too heavy, especially if it got wet. No such worries with this product. It is light weight and is easily washed and dried. The crome(?) clip attachment is sturdy enough - however given the choice I would prefer a brass clip as they are much more durable. My main reason for awarding this product 4 stars rather than 5 is that I like a loop at the end of a lead or line so that if your dog does run to the end of it and keep going you have something to hold on to rather than it slipping through your fingers! However this problem was easily solved by knotting a loop in the end of the line myself. I would recommend wearing gloves when using this line if you have a dog like mine that is born to run as I know from past experience of lunging horses that a nylon line can cause a rope burn if it is whipped through your hands very quickly.Overall though, I find this to be a very useful piece of training kit. It also comes with a handy little illustrated booklet detailing how to use the long line and has tips for gaining a good recall.

Good
Good for intended purpose. I use a long line when training loose lead walking so the pup doesn't get the chance to feel a tight lead to start with.Being fabric, it does get heavy when wet, but that was expected - I'd have gone with a biothane line of being waterproof was particularly important for my purpose. It's long enough to give freedom if using in recall training/in place of letting off lead, but short and light enough that it's not a hassle to reel back in.Comfortable to hold. There's no handle, but I tied knots in it at different points to make it easier to keep at a set length. The clip, I found, was too heavy for use on my dachshund pup; I think it'd be more suitable for a dog over 5kg (I got over this hurdle pretty easily by getting a seamstress friend to swap it for a smaller clip)Overall, happy with the quality for the price and it served its intended purpose well

Durable, easy to manage and easy to clean
This was priceless in the early training days for our puppy. It gave her room to roam but safely.

Sturdy, strong and perfect for the job
I decided to try this lead after I was told a horror story about extendible leads - a friend's dog had a terrible accident with one where it took her flesh down to the bone after getting caught round her leg whilst running. This particular long lead appealed for a number of reasons, the first being the length of it - approximately 30 feet. When at its full length my pup can have quite a bit of freedom to wander around and sniff without having to stay right by our sides but I know that she is secure at all times and can't dash off when she gets a smell or sees another dog.The lead is also great for training recall. My dog gets a scent and she seems to become deaf to anything else. My dog trainer said not to keep shouting the same 'come' command as if they ignore it then it just reinforces that they don't have to come when you call. By allowing the dog their freedom on this lead if you shout for them to come and they ignore you then it is easy to pull them back to your side using the lead. That way they learn that they can't ignore you.I really like that this lead was made of a strong fabric rather than nylon as are some other leads. It makes it much more comfortable to hold and it feels flexible and strong. The main downside to the fabric is that it is very absorbent and if you are out on a rainy day or the grass is wet then the lead quickly becomes saturated and takes a long time to completely dry.Another downside is because of the length of the lead it can and does easily become tangled during storage - I have no idea why, it must be the same physics that makes ipod earphones always tangle! However overall, I am very impressed with this lead and would highly recommend it - I'm very glad I bought mine.
