This has been a game changer in my Discovery 3
TL:DR: This is a great piece of kit, with good volume, great sound quality and easy installation. So, one of the major bug bears I have had with my Land Rover Discovery 3 is the lack of Bluetooth (sort of understandable from a car which was made in 2006, but I like complaining...) The car has a 3.5mm aux jack in the rear of the centre console, but, as with all things Land Rover, this comes with its own set of problems... The Aux jack is unamplified, meaning that even with the phone on full wack, you really need to crank the stereo up to full just to get normal volume, and any chances of impressing groups of 'yoof' as I drive past with my favourite late 80s thrash metal blaring out of my window and my sunglasses on are pretty much non-existent... Enter the Firefly... A few Discovery 3 owners had been harping on about how great these things were, but as a cynical member of generation X I was deeply suspicious that it would make any real difference to the pathetic sound output of my car radio... How wrong I was... It was payday, and I'd blown most of my paycheque on cheap beer, but in a haze of hops I thought "I'll just get one of those and see if it's as good as they say it is"... Best drunken decision I ever made... The radio can now crank Anthrax out loud enough that I can see the local young people waving their fists and middle fingers at me as I drive past in what I imagine is the modern day expression of awe, and I can finally make my ears bleed in the way that Sepultura intended! It was really easy to install (Fortunately the D3 has a cigarette lighter socket right next to the aux port, but the car kit comes with an extended aux cable if you need it) and just syncs up to the bluetooth on my phone as soon as I get in, which is a huge improvement on having an aux cable floating around the car and having to fish it out from under my passenger's feet before I set off... Highly recommended!

Genius - crystal clear sound, unobtrusive, and ever ready
I must admit I was a bit sceptical about this, but it hasn't disappointed at all! I have the Firefly permanently plugged into my car 12v charger point, with the aux cable running unobtrusively down the back and it looks great. When i turn on the ignition, it flashes showing it is ready to pair, and when it pairs the solid light shows it is connected and working. It is simple and minimal in its design, which makes it so powerful - please don't be put off by complaints about not having control of audio etc, it really isn't an issue - I use it every day, and I use the term 'set it and forget it' far too much in reviews, but this is exactly what the Firefly is - plug it in, then forget it is there. Like other reviewers I wanted something I did not have to constantly charge or fiddle with and this fits the bill. There are a couple of negatives, neither of which are attributed in any way to the receiver itself. Firstly, the pairing of the aux socket and USB socket in the Hyundai i10 (which I drive) would suggest that this would be the perfect place for its installation (see all the photos in the supporting descriptions); however, when I plug anything into my USB drive it tries to 'read' the USB, and then fails, so disconnecting the USB and rendering the device inoperative. I haven't found a way to change this, so for now my Firefly is plugged into a multiplug on the 12v charger point, which is acceptable but a bit annoying. Secondly, there are (occasionally) connection issues, but I actually mostly attribute these to my tablet (which I play music from, and is a pain in the a**e anyway) and not the receiver. I believe the receiver to be a 'passive' item - i.e. provided it has power it is set up and ready, it has no ability to disconnect itself. Tablets or phones, on the other hand, disconnect from Bluetooth for a myriad of reasons, sometimes unfathomable. I would say 'lost connection' is perhaps a few times in a week, and usually righted fairly quickly. I can drive for hours and not have any connection issues (e.g. drove 6 hours and never a hiccup). I would look carefully at any device first for problems. My only other comment, and this is me being a bit picky, is that the build quality is a bit plastic for such a premium price, but as I don't spend a lot of time handling it, it really doesn't matter. I struggled for years with dodgy aux cables which would break, and the sound quality was never great. Sound quality off the Firefly is crystal clear. I can't recommend it enough.

Great Device
I purchased this specifically for my BMW Z4 which does not support bluetooth audio, only bluetooth calls so needed a device for streaming music to the infotainment wirelessly. (Positives) Setup was easy and was running within 5 minutes. Audio Quality is fantastic and i would highly recommend this to anyone in need of a lossless, wireless audio receiver. Quick to reconnect when nearby and allows for a multi device party mode. App is simple enough to update device. (Negative) My only gripe with this device is lack of media control through my car steering wheel, given the USB cable i was using allowed for skipping track with my phone, the AUX does not allow this using this device. I expect thats an issue more with the car and make than with the device. As a mid term solution it works for my intended purpose and device functions as expected.

Excellent, but don't bother adjusting the DSP
Excellent and easy to use for the car. I wish the DSP was a bit more adjustable though - best to leave the EQ flat or just make minor cuts - boosting leads to distortion.

Small form factor with outstanding performance
I was never expecting such a small thing can output such a high quality sound. I have no background noise, no issues connecting phone to the receiver. Receiver takes approx. 3-4 seconds to boot up after getting power. But the punch it packs is amazing. It shows as LDAC device which is good. The app for controlling some minor settings is good enough. But again, the sounds is the best! And no interference as with cheap FM transceivers! Worthy buy if car does not come equipped with Bluetooth audio.

So far I've used the product for about a week in which I've used it for about 10 hours. I'm using it to have Bluetooth for my car speaker. The product is small and compact. I plugged it into my car and connected straight away. Easy. I did however have some problems with the app. To connect I had to remove the paired device and pair through the app instead. A bit of a hassle. Once in the app it took about 10 minutes to update the device. A bit annoying. Especially since the only reason I even had to use the app was to enable party mode. You'd think that basic function would be enabled by default. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to test the party mode yet. The sound quality is great! Noticeable difference to a similar much cheaper one I had before. Over all I'm really happy. No way to tell how long it will last yet, and how it will handle the cold winters here (down to -40c). I would definitely recommend this product. Update 2024-09-27: Party mode worked flawlessly. I really love that. Changing to 5 stars.

Audi A4 2012 + firefly LDAC + Samsung S22 Ultra i nie chcesz wysiadać z auta. Muzyka brzmi jak bajka! Polecam.
