Sleepless in Seattle

Seattle, 90s,Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan: All good.
I love the 90s when things were more simple, I love Seattle, I love this movie, I love Meg Ryan, Rosie O'Donnell, Tom Hanks, the kid which should be about 30 by now... They are all so perfect in this film. Sigh... Getting nostalgic every time I watch this little gem. I miss the 90s. I miss the Seattle from back then. I wish I had a time machine.

That movies were made a lot better 30 years ago.
I have always loved this movie and enjoyed seeing it so much again that I watched it twice! They don't make movies like this anymore, everything seems to be poor quality, sex, people who are confused about life, etc. It is nice to watch a movie where people aren't all messed up in their ideas of how life should be. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are great together, I also loved them in You've Got Mail.

Makes you wanna live
There is nothing like love between a man and a woman. An idea lost today with so many perversions the norm. Me and women complimenting each other rather than arguing that gender is on a endless unknowable spectrum. Geesh. Sadly, ive never had love like this, but every time I watch it I get a little more hopeful.

Timeless classic!
I watched this movie on what was rather a boring Sunday afternoon in Seattle. I am not a very big fan of classic movies, nevertheless, tried this movie since I had heard good reviews about it from a friend and also I enjoy catching a romantic flick once in a while. Both Meg Ryan and Tom Hank's were simply amazing and definitely have academy deserving acting performances!! Oh lets not forget that kid actor who played Jonah. He was pretty sharp too "just like me when I was younger". Also, as I from the 90's, the movie brought fond memories of the telephone, radio, old computers and other old technology which only surprisingly added an another flavor of comedy. I was actually pretty impressed with the accuracy of search engine used by Meg!!. Overall, the emotions and shades of pure love is wrapped in a nice feel good story and I think this movie sets the bar high for RomCom movies. I am pretty sure older people will have so much more to say about this movie but all I am saying is even though I belong to Gen Y/Gen Z, I felt the movie was not a total waste of my time.

Defective disc
I bought this favorite film as a gift for my mother. We tried to view it but the picture kept breaking up, starting about 10 minutes into the film. Impossible to watch! Very poor in quality. I looked at other reviews and found similar complaints. One person even tried to buy it a second time but that disc was also defective. Will have to try elsewhere to find another version that WORKS!

Sleepless in Seattle continues to delight
I can’t count how many times my wife and I have watched Sleepless in Seattle, but it’s been enough... and when Amazon had a great deal we got it streaming to add to our streaming library. I’ll have to admit - I love everything up to the point Hanks and Ryan get together - I have never been a fan of their chemistry or more to the point, lack there of. But the film is a great ride and has countless charming moments and great acting. This is a story of daring to love again. The relationship between the son and father hinges on them moving on after the death of Hank’s onscreen wife. They were deeply in love and he’s hurting. On the other coast Meg has spent her life doing what’s expecting, being boring, and now she’s getting engaged to the wrong guy - who’s far too much the right guy. (again, I’m a bigger fan of she and that guy staying together, as she and Hanks just do not click - my wife agrees). But beyond that everything is a great ride. The cast is outstanding, the characters interesting and unique, and the story itself is good - a fun RomCom. On the other side, this movie has given us some fun and memorable moments - Rosie and Meg crying over old movies, Hanks’ real life wife, Rita, crying over old movies, Hanks and Gray crying over old movies... and the radio host giving us some of the original “real world drama” on Christmas night - when Meg sings Horses, horses, horses...This is a date night film, a Sunday afternoon, cuddle with your wife, or rainy day way to spend some time enjoying something delightful.

GREAT MOVIE, ...bad Blu Ray quality.
We all know the movie was fantastic. The Blu Ray DVD of this movie, however, did not quite stand up to the quality of current Blu Ray discs. In fact, to the naked eye, was only "slightly" higher quality than a regular Standard Definition DVD. Which made the quality severely disappointing. A remaster in 4K is in order here, befitting of an American Classic such as Sleepless In Seattle.

Not Nora's best
No matter how many people are in love with this flick, it is not a good movie. Nora Ephron was a great writer too, I love her work, and Meg, Tom, always wonderful. But something happened during the production of this sappy drivel. An affront to the superior film it insinuates paying homage to. My first instinct afterward was to watch something completely different and refreshing -- like the Exorcist.

Sleepless in Seattle - Blu-ray
For a modern classic, a tenner is a bargain and another early 1990’s favourite finally gets a U.K. release.I’ve always enjoyed it, and it’s largely held up well, as Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan play out the story of two people who may be destined for each other, even though they don’t know each other.............The film though, does look perfectly fine on Blu-ray, and I even noticed a couple of details in the opening titles I don’t think I had before.Extras are limited to a 14 minute talking heads featurette and the 1993 ‘When I Fall in Love’ music video. Seemingly the Blu-ray Disc losing the Nora Ephron commentary that was on the old Collector’s edition DVD.

The film's countless followers have no reason to doubt that the BD version is worth every penny (or cent!) on this occasion
The 1989 and highly successful When Harry Met Sally film firmly established Meg Ryan as the slightly 'dippy' but lovable girl next door engaged in a prolonged relationship which happily ends in her marriage. This 1993 Sleepless in Seattle continued that runaway success with the plot this time revolving, and resolving, around the unlikely prospect of a new relationship blossoming and eventually flowering over the width of the US.As before, there are alternative unlikely contenders vying for romantic status within both key roles as well as a host of other supporting roles which add considerably to the humour of the plot as well as underlining the credentials of the main relationship as it develops. The initial driving force behind this unlikely scenario is Sam Baldwin's young son and his desire to look after his father while at the same time finding a mother figure to replace his own deceased mother. This film is driven by that very understandable desire which also pulls at the heartstrings without being mawkish in any trivial manner.Audience sympathy and commitment is thus established from the very start and never flags - a true Romantic Comedy of epic and lasting proportions is thus assured. The rest is history as they say! Those not in the know will need to buy a copy if they are to find out the details as to what then happens. However, this review is not intended to discuss the actual film as by now it will have both its supporters and detractors. Entering into those conflicts is not the purpose of the review which is aimed squarely at the many supporters of this film.Essentially, for all of those who are keen supporters of this film and who have bought the previous DVD version of this disc, the only issue of vital importance will be whether the Blu-ray offers an improvement technically sufficient to justify the additional expense. For this reviewer the answer is a clear affirmative. The upgrade offers a clear advance on both image and audio quality with the imaging being a marked improvement. The colours are firmer and there is an increase to the perceived depth of the imaging. The whole film simply becomes more 'real.' The film, which is so concerned with close characterisation, benefits considerably from this enhancement of reality. The degree of improvement experienced from this BD will also inevitably depend on the replay equipment used. The following technical information is intended to be a guide to aid in assessment. The screen used for this review is only of moderate dimensions being a 40 inch television screen. However, the television is a high performing 4K unit which delivers a compensating positive effect. The moderate screen size lacks the impact of larger screens but is less critical of film faults. However, the contributing player is, unusually, able to separate the audio and visual HDMI signals before they leave separately to the television and pre-amp. That feature enhances both the visual and audio elements of the output. The audio, not so critical in the case, delivers an unusually wide-ranging and revealing performance. Its precision is equally revealing of film scores.Readers with alternative equipment will have to interpret this review bearing in mind their own equipment and its comparative advantages and disadvantages. The disc offers purchasers with suitable replay equipment a substantial improvement over the previous DVD.In summary this BD is a transfer from good quality 1993 film stock and has responded well to the upgrade and well worth considering. The film's countless followers have no reason to doubt that the BD version is worth every penny (or cent!) on this occasion.

Foreign pack but English viewing
I thought I had made a mistake when I ordered this as the cover is in a foreign language. However, it plays in English and was good quality. This is one of my favourite films and it is nice to have it on the shelf to watch whenever I fancy it. A good value buy.

Romance
Sleepless in Seattle seems to be the ultimate romantic film for some women; I don't know why. Nevertheless, Tom Hanks' acting definitely gives credibility to this unlikely story.

Love this film
Given that it's generally thought of as a Tom Hanks + Meg Ryan film, why is Meg Ryan listed 5th in the credits? And why are they both staring at the sky on the cover. Funny the things you ask yourself whilst trying to think of something to say .. nothing much to say really .. other than it's a wonder they don't trip over something at the end.Excellent film. A must have for an incorrigible romantic.
