Does the job.
Put these up to stop my Cat from jumping up on the fence then straight over on to the roof of the car on the driveway. It’s been like a superhighway for mine and my neighbours cats. You will never stop a cat 100% cos we all know how agile and resourceful they are but these have cut down that activity by probably 85% and you can see how uncomfortable and not worth the effort they’ve found it when they do bother. Super easy to install but don’t skimp out on using a screw in all the holes because they will rise up and bend in the heat. With the correct amount of screws used it’s all as it should be. (2 packs used in the picture and that’s also covered 1 fence length additionally you can’t see in the picture).

Overall, very good
These spikes are much tougher and sharper than they look, so in that respect they are excellent. They are also easy to install - just find a few screws and screw them in. But if you are installing these on a hot sunny day, I have a tip for you. Make sure you leave them out in the sun for half an hour or so, BEFORE you install them, to allow them to expand first. If you don't, they will warp somewhat in the sunshine. I have attached two photos for you to see 1) Installed without warming up first 2) Installed AFTER allowing for expansion. They also work best on fences that have a flat top surface. Fences that are shaped into a peak (a triangular point) are more difficult, as the middle screws cannot easily find a middle point. Overall though, I like the look of them - they are well packaged and well made. They also came with a small warning laminate, which I'm told you are advised to put up - if you don't, then a burglar has the right to take you to court if they injure themselves, because they were not 'warned' about the spikes. Ridiculous, and indeed a thick blanket would probably be enough for a burglar to make these somewhat redundant, but they would have to come prepared, and may still slow them up a bit, and any deterrent is good in my book, so overall, a decent addition to your security measures when it come to deterring the more opportunist house-breaker. Probably worth mentioning to your neighbour though before you install them - if your neighbour got injured somehow, they could also sue you. And if your fence faces a public highway, that could also be a legal mind-field. That all said, I like them!

Good
Very helpful, though for feather edge have to put on the rail just beneath the tops so not impervious to cats, but still is a deterrent in my opinion

These work fine for our purposes.
Some reviewers seem to be having problems with birds and cats still using their boundary walls and fences. I can only assume that these are wide-ish walls or fences with broad rails along the tops. In our case the fences are narrow at the top and these do a fabulous job of keeping pigeons and cats away. I can tell cats don't like them because they began looking for other places to get in. The trick then is to shoo them away and watch where they go over the fence - put down some more and eventually they don't come back. It's often better not to allow cats to get up the fence easily. If they have to jump up and grab the rail to haul themselves up, they will not like those spikes having their weight on them. If they can sidle over onto the fence it will hurt a lot less and they can pick their footing. It's always a good idea to compel them to have to put their weight on the spikes. They'll quickly realise that the gain isn't worth the pain. I don't dislike cats, but I like being able to walk on our new gravelled areas without fear of nasty little surprises. They're not as nice-looking as a clean fence top rail, but they are about as unobtrusive as any of these solutions can be. Addendum: We've had these up while now and I have a couple more observations to make. The first is that most of the smaller birds take a while to get used to these but eventually figure out how to use the fence top as a perch by standing between the spikes. It keeps larger birds away, but sparrow-sized birds get along with the spike strips. The other observation is that I installed these in coldish weather (autumn and spring), and I've noticed that in hot weather they will tend to buckle upward against the screws as they expand quite a bit in the heat. If I'd known this I would have installed them on hotter days so that they'd look okay in the heat but be even tighter against the top rail when the weather got colder and they would shrink and tighten against the screws instead. Of course they can be refixed on a hotter day. They still do a good job of keeping unwelcome pests at bay.

Doesn't deter (our cat, at least)
Product arrived on time and complete. Easy enough to cut to length, and several screw hols to secure to top of fence (and indeed also to the side of the top of the fence). The spikes themselves were uncomfortable to touch, but would not harm a creature - they seemed like they would be perfect for the job. The intention was to discourage our cat from heading over this fence which backed onto a busy road. I can't say that the cat liked walking on the spikes, as such, but it was not in the least bit put off. You can see that the cat was chosing it's foot positions carefully but otherwise it was not encumbered. In fact, the cheeky thing perched on top of the spikes for 5 minutes whilst she watched me act out my frustration at the lack of effect. Plan B is to glue lego pieces to the top of the fences instead, in the hope the cats have the same problem stepping on them as humans do.
