KnitPro KP20747 5 mm Symfonie Crochet Tunisian Single Ended Hooks, Multi-Color

I ordered this crochet hook to try my hand at Tunisian crochet. I was surprised how pretty it was when it turned up - it really is a beautiful hook, and it's smooth and feels good in the hand. However, it took me a while to get used to using it and it's definitely not a hook for a beginner. The tip and the curve of the hook are both very pointed, making it very easy to accidentally split the yarn. There's a definite technique to using it so if you're looking for a first hook to purchase, maybe look elsewhere to start with and come back to this one with a bit more experience!

Product description shows dimensions as 25 x 5 x 0.6 cm - Even in the packaging this crochet hook was no where near, and I mean no where near, 25 cm in length.Tunisian crochet hooks are much longer than normal crochet hooks for a particular reason - don't buy these if you want to do Tunisian crochet

... that I really didn’t get along well with these hooks. I had purchased a cheaper metal set previously, and after it eventuated that I enjoy Tunisian crochet I decided to upgrade my hooks for a bigger project.These are head and throat are quite sharp and catch on the yarn. The pointy metal end digs into my palm at the base of my little finger.I was surprised to discover the cheaper metal hooks I purchased suited me better - not like me at all!I’m going to keep these hooks for use with the extender cables... in the hope I can persevere with them.

Really lovely hook. So much easier to use than the foot long tunisian crochet hooks of yore. Very pretty warm wood feel. Can be used with or without the Tunisian cable (bought separately) making this a very versatile crochet tool. Always use a larger size hook than the yarn suggests when making tunisian crochet.

You can not go wrong with KnitPro and the Symfonie range are the nicest. I bought this one as a replacement for one we originally owned after the cat chewed the hook end off. Even the cats like them!

I purchased this to try Tunisian crochet and really like the hook. It is a little different as I am used to using an ergonomic hook but this works well especially when used with the cable you can purchase separately to add extra length to the hook.

I have been using KnitPro Symfonie needles for a long time, and I like them. However the ones 4mm and below are quite fragile they break easily. This crochet hook arrived first broken in two pieces, but then I received promptly a replacement one, and I am happy with it. One just have to be careful not to break them.
