You will need the base set or the villains set, Dark City lacks the base cards (SHIELD Troopers, Agents, Maria Hill, Wounds). It is a great addition to the game and really expands game play.

Yes. This game is just an expansion to the base game, so it can be played solo. It adds some tougher villains and scenarios and some new keyword abilities. It does make the game more challenging, but it’s not hard to learn/play.
