Clear, Concise and useful book
I like the clarity of. this book. Christin Westwood explains the methods of using the essential oils: massage, bathing, inhalation. compress diffuser,..The book lists the oils and explains the benefits on a physical and psychological level and gives warnings on how some oils are inappropriate for babies, infants, children, pregnant women or people who are receiving homeopathic treatment. I wish she had added something for pets. There are two separate indices which list physical and psychological conditions alphabetically and what is the best method in treating each. Based on this she explains blending oils based on the physical and psychological issues and the choice of the oils and adapting the dosis taking into consideration the cautions.. she also mentions how some oils are strong and therefor need only one drop. The choice of carrier oils based on skin type and how to store and for how long both blends and essential oils.

Appearances can be deceiving!
I'll be the first to admit, when I first saw the book I wasn't impressed. The reason being is the book is very thin and I was expecting it not to be full of information, however I quickly learned that appearances can be deceiving. I read through it this morning and this book is jam packed with information. It starts with a brief introduction to Aromatherapy and very briefly talks about it's history. Then it moves onto the different types of Essential Oils and different ways of using the oils. It also mentions how to administer the oils to children. There is also a guide to the various oils and their uses/a physical symptoms list with the associated oils that can be used and a psychological symptoms list.In short if you want an excellent book on Aromatherapy get this one!

Highly recommended five stars
Got this paperback for 1p so really what's not to like? As a newbie to aromatherapy, this was recommended to me by a qualified aromatherapist. I was not disappointed. It is a simple little book, written in plain understandable language and clearly sets out the basics of using essential oils. There is a very helpful section at the back, which lists many physical complaints and ailments and gives a correspondingly useful oil. It then moves onto psychological conditions and helpful oils for those issues too.Very useful; I have used several of the blends already.

A Very Good Guide!
Would recommend this as it's a very good, concise guide to aromatherapy. It's easy to have a quick look up if you want an oil to help with a specific ailment. It also gives you oils in alphabetical order and how they can be used for what ailments. It has contraindications which not all books have. The only drawback is that it doesn't give you details of all oils available and all ailments. However, that would make the book much larger, and more complicated.A great book to take away on holiday with you - along with a few well chosen oils of course.

A handy little reference.
This is not a definitive work, But a very handy quick reference guide for those with a small knowledge of aromatherapy. If you wish to delve deeper into the subject Ms. Westwood has other books on the market that may suit, as for myself, this is just what I was looking for.

Good reference
I found this to a very basic book which explained the applications of the oils what they should be used for. It is not a recipe book of blends for body scent use but it is a decent start to fire up your thoughts of making a blend as different oils have different effects, obviously. For the price its well worth having.
