I love this sampler. The wait for it was worth it. Design is beautiful. Directions are clear and stitching directions are on large sheets of paper; probably a lot of work, but stitching it is so mindfully relaxing. I think this piece will become a family heirloom. It’s classic.

What the heck did I recieve? The "chart" seems to be nothing more than someones attempt to digitize a photo instead of a real chart. What should be clean one color elements (the rabbit for example) is completely unrecognizable on the chart. There is Chinese text (Thought this was imported from England!) NO photograph of the finishe product, knock-off chinese floss, and the 'tools' are rusted. The needles are rusted, the thimbol is not even a thimbol. Something has has gone wrong with this order, because Bothy is usually very good. The Aida cloth was stamped with the same unreadable confusion that is the chart. I ended up washing it to make it, at least, a usable piece of cloth.

Kit delivered packaged nicely and clean. Threads are sorted and large enough diagram for ease of use. I can’t wait to complete this project.

Seul inconvénient, les instructions sont uniquement en anglais ; les fabricants de ce type de kit devraient proposer des instructions trilingues, français, anglais, allemand.

I purchased this Bothy Thread sampler, designed by Moira Blackburn, in February 2022. It was started with enthusiasm and a little stitched each day, then it got put aside for other crafts for about a year. I pushed on to complete it mid 2024. It could easily be done and dusted in 6 months with constant attention, I would say. It has been waiting for me to frame it, hanging on a magnetic board in my craft room. Thankfully, as I walk past it each day, I happened to notice a bit I had not stitched. Can you spot it? Hint – it is on the top row of alphabet letters. The kit comes with all that you require, generous amounts of threads, cut to decent lengths for each single strand, taken from a hank, to be folded in 2 to allow the easy start, no knot method. I had plenty of thread left over, despite my anxiety about running out as I stitched. The paper pattern comes on 4 , A2 sheets (I think it's A2, certainly it’s like two A4 sheets size). These cover the design in 4 quarters, top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right, and this was how I tackled the stitching, 1 quarter at a time. I added fishing rod type thread to mark off the 10x10 hole boxes. I now know about Easy Count Aida, which I would sub nowadays. The finished article has been steeped in warm water with natural soap, rinsed, dried and pressed upside down on a fluffy towel. None of the thread colours bled, as they are composed of quality threads like DMC, with some other brands mixed in. I had never tackled a traditional sampler, so this hit the spot, though I am more of a full-coverage cross-stitcher, and I tend to use Patter Keeper on my tablet for marking up the pattern as I work. For this, it was back to a soft black pencil to score onto the paper Pattern.

This is my third Moira Blackburn cross stitch kit. I love the designs and antique appearance based on traditional patterns. The muted colours are exceptional. I hope she will keep producing as I'll keep buying and framing.
