Small-n-Furry Fly n Saucer Wheel, Medium 18.5 cm (Assorted colors - Blue/Purple/Green)

I first got this because I was told by the pet shop that they are better for the hamster's back than a normal wheel (a lot of people also that this is not true but I thought it's better to be safe than sorry). I got it for our Russian dwarf hamster and I would say it's about the right size for her (6.5 inches). She got the hang of it very quickly and seems to enjoy running on it. It is good quality, strong plastic - not sure if that would be a problem for other animals who are more likely to chew (like gerbils. as I'm sure if I was to put it in with my gerbils it would be destroyed within a day). It fits nicely in her cage and is ideal for cages that are not very tall that a wheel may not fit in, it is also silent and you can't hear it at all when she is running in it, unlike the squeaky wheel that she had previously. Overall brilliant product!I'll just mention that it is a pinky-purple colour unlike the picture, which is blue - but it does state this in the details of the product so can't fault that.

These really are quiet - not silent, but quiet, it's in a bedroom and doesn't keep my daughter awake unlike the last wheel. It also spins fast and smoothly and is nice and stable in use. It does prevent 'wheel tail' too (as hilarious as that was). And the mice love it, they spend ages galloping around on it and they even pop back into the cage to use it or use it in their 'adventure' area. It's just as good as the traditional wheels for creating multiple-user errors and the ensuing humour this generates. I think this is about the right size for our adult mice, I think they would be happy on a slightly bigger one too but these wheels take up a lot of floor space (but that floor space will be very very well used!). The mice learned to use it within the day, although I wish I'd filmed their first attempts now they don't fall off it any more. We've had this wheel more than 6 months now and it's still quiet and fast.

Brilliant for our Russian Dwarf, sturdy base and functions perfectly, the wheel spins with great ease meaning the hamster gets a great workout and has fun too. Fab price and the item is the right size for all cages. The saucer is also good for the hamsters back as it stays that bit straighter when running.

The media could not be loaded. I've seen dwarf hamsters easily using this type of wheel before, but wasn't sure it would be ok for the larger Syrian. Turns out it's perfect! Since it doesn't attach to bars and reverberate, the noise is far less than typical wheels (though if you set it directly on the floor of your cage, it rattles quite a bit. I stand mine on top of the sawdust and hay for a quiet effect.) The base doesn't feel particularly sturdy in-hand, but it hasn't tipped over at any point. My hamster runs for a long time every night quite happily, and the open design means no risk of back strain; the surface is only lightly ridged to help with grip, and doesn't feel like it would be at all uncomfortable on little feet. I really like this wheel, and would buy again in future.

I bought this as it had a great review on the noise level and I agree it is quiet, however, the turn table is mega fast, too fast for our hamster and we converted back to the more traditional, slightly more noisy wheel.

Great product for the money

Good size for a syrian hamster, even though he won't use it. Quality is great and washes well in hot soapy water.
