King Ottokar's Sceptre: The Official Classic Children’s Illustrated Mystery Adventure Series (The Adventures of Tintin)

Another great Herge story. Tintin visits a pseudo Eastern European state where there is a plot to steal the King's sceptre.... usual riveting read. The kids were fascinated with the story and the places. The locations stimulated lots of questions from the kids about where the country was and what the culture was like.

Bought this for my son as I used go read them when i was young....he hated it...but i still think they're great. Will buy some more for him that are really for me...

Really enjoyed this book, one of my favourite Tintin books, what was really great was background information about writer "Herge" and also background information about the story.

As a child, I remember going to the library and checking out the Tintin books and being drawn into the adventure, wishing I could be Tintin. Now in my late 20's, I have decided to purchase all the Tintin books so that when my 2 year old is a bit older, I can share the world of Tintin with him :-D

album BD anglophone broché souple grand format ancien (1974/1947/1938) traduction du sceptre d'Ottokar; cette huitième aventure des célèbres héros d'Hergé fait partie des oeuvres d'avant-guerre (les automobiles et avions sont datées de cette époque) à part Tintin, Milou, les Dupondt et leurs pitreries, le personnage principal qui fait son apparition dans cet épisode est le rossignol milanais Bianca Castafiore, qu'on retrouvera bien plus tard dans de nombreuses occasions jusqu'à T chez les Picaros; par ailleurs l'intrigue nous fait voyager dans les Balkans où s'affrontent deux pays aux régimes politiques opposés le royaume de Syldavie et la Bordurie, avec une atmosphère lourde de menaces guerrières évoquant l'époque troublée et annonçant la guerre froide; sa lecture en anglais est grandement aidée par le dessin; dans cette édition Little Brown souple, le papier est correct et il ne manque que la couverture rigide pour compléter votre collection mais cette version sera parfaite à bas prix en attendant
