Cleaned our shag rug very well - great product
Very happy overall with this product. It is simple to use and comes with instructions. I bought this to use on my shag rug as we have a dog and wanted to give it a deep clean. I was concerned about using it on the rug due to the length of the fibres but it worked fine, no tangles. It didn't leave the rug soaking wet either, so was able to leave it inside to try with the door open and it dried in a couple of hours. It is fairly hard work to use by hand on a large area so for large carpet areas I would not suggest using this product, but for small areas, rugs and for cleaning up after spills it is very handy to have.I used 'rug doctor' cleaning solution and was amazed at the colour of the dirty water that came out of the rug. The dirty water is sucked up in to a separate container and is easily cleaned.Overall a good purchase for the money and for our purposes. Would highly recommend.

Pretty good, but not great.
Does what it's meant to do --- I've used it to lift some slight surface stains left over after cleaning up cat vomit, and it did a decent job. It's not been quite sufficient for cleaning up a spot of cat wee, which had soaked a little deeper into the carpet, but it went some way towards getting rid of the smell. There's plenty of room for improvement in ease of use, and it's not especially powerful, but it's probably the best you can expect at this price point. If you need something for occasional spot-cleaning in small areas --- spills and pet mess and what have you --- but don't have the budget/storage for a proper carpet cleaner with all the bells and whistles, this is a fairly convenient and reasonably effective solution.

Great for little spills but weighs a ton
It works ok as a washer but is very heavy even before you put any water in it. It takes two hands to lift and move across any surface and the water button is exactly in the place you need to hold the handle so i am forever pressing the button by accident. However it does clean well and it dose suck the water up well enough so your carpets arent wet to the touch unlike some other cleaners. It saves loads of space in the cupboard and is great for little accidents. We have a 12 week old puppy and a young baby so it has been a god send for those little spills and toilet troubles. However there is no way i would even attempt to get on my hands and knees and lug this thing across the entire floor or even the sofa it would need a superhero to achieve that with it being so heavy and cumbersome.

however I was compelled to do so with this product because it is so bad and poorly designed
I have never posted a review before, however I was compelled to do so with this product because it is so bad and poorly designed. The nozzle sprays a thin jet of cleaning fluid forward in a narrow line. To cover an area you would have to move across about 2cm at a time!! It is very hard work to move the cleaner forward and it does not actually clean (rotating brushes, etc) as it does so. Then you have to almost have to use two hands to drag it back to suck up dirty water and after 1 hour the front dirty water container kept popping off. The carpet cleaning container at the rear is badly designed with two shallow finger tracks to try and pull off by pulling up difficult purchase. Also after a short time, the motor heats up so much and blows hot air from the side vents, it is almost impossible to hold- my hands were red and burning hot. I am physically able and was exhausted. Lastly, it leaks everywhere.

Exactly what I needed
Got this item specifically to suck up water from our, often wet, vestibule carpet. We live on a west facing hill in the north west of England and the rain batters against our front door. Try as we may, some gets in. This small, but powerful, cleaner does a great job at getting the water out of the carpet leaving it almost completely dry. In the spring I will use it to clean the stair and landing carpet and I am sure it will be up to the task.

Disappointing
Disappointed. The spray nozzle for the cleaner just sprays a small patch in a long thin line rather than spraying in a fan shape. Useless for furniture, sofas etc. OK for the odd stain or the odd patch on a carpet or rug but if you want to clean your entire sofa cushion don't buy this. Had to strip the sofa cushions in the end and take them to be professionally cleaned!

Handy spot cleaner
I have a full sized Vax carpet cleaner but it is an absolute nightmare to get out, fill, use, clean and disassemble again - plus it`s very heavy. For small spot stains, usually cat vomit & hairballs here, this device is ideal. It`s small, portable and lightweight and cleans smaller issues up really quite well.I do have one issue with it and that`s the fact that it`s not so easy to clean out the dirty water tank - it needs a much bigger emptying hole.Ideally, the dirty tank should come apart to some degree as woolen carpet fibres and dirt easily get inside - putting clean water in and swilling it around several times isn`t the best option and is the most annoying feature. For the price (as I didn`t really want to spend 3 times as much on a bigger spot cleaner) this does the job.I`ve put the big dirty old vax away (permanently)EDIT:I advised someone else to get one of these for spot cleaning but after checking he price...wow, it`s now £65 !!!!!I paid £43 and was OK with that but I will not be getting another at this steep price rise when it`s the same item just rebranded - even the images are showing the MaxiVac.Just another lost sale - nobody cares I suppose.Update: and now it`s gone up to £78.49 !!!!The friend I was going to get one for since got a V*x blue for £99 and it did the whole house quite well as I tried it myself. This new price is just daft.
