Thermodynamics: An Engineering Approach with Student Resource DVD

Solid textbook for thermo I and II
I had rented a newer edition of this textbook for my thermodynamics I and II classes in college, then bought this one for much cheaper to keep around as a reference once I wasn't having to get homework problems out of the book anymore. This book is a solid guide to thermodynamics that I think would be useful for just about any mechanical engineering student to have around. I bought mine through an Amazon seller for just $10, including shipping, and it arrived on my doorstep in less than a week in perfect condition. If your professor asked you to get a newer version of this book and they're going to assign homework problems out of it, your best bet will probably be to just rent that newer version. But if you just want a book you can use to learn thermo (or pick up as a refresher every now and again) for cheap, I would highly recommend this one. Aside from the homework problems, the content is almost the same as in the version that's 10 years newer, and this one is much more affordable!

Great Thermo Book
This is an amazing textbook. If you read through the entire chapter and work through all the examples given, all while paying attention to it (which really is the key to learning anything from any textbook), you will have absolutely no problems with learning the material and the problems given in the back of the book will be a breeze. Reading this textbook has helped me much more than going to the actual lectures. My only grievance against it is that there aren't solutions to all the problems. For the cost of the book they should all be included. Overall this textbook is fantastic.

Nice
The text is easy to read, well-written, and not that boring, which are all essential to keep a reader interested and attentive. The examples are pretty good. The only down side to this book is that you have to constantly flip back to the appendix to look up material property values in order to solve problems, but other than that, it's a book I recommend.

Excellent book not only for class but for future reference
Really good book. I am a senior Mechanical Engineering student, and I did not buy the book when I took thermodynamics I & II, instead I rented it. Now that I am working on harder and more in-depth stuff like senior project, internships, and projects for upper level classes I realized that I actually needed it in order to go back and check, or re-read a few chapters, so I bought it.

Useful
This is a pretty useful book for understanding basic Thermodynamics. In my course, we didn't really use the DVD, but other than that, the book provided numerous useful examples and provided a useful guide as to how to use and read the thermodynamic property tables.

Still new to the book but...
I'm still new to the book, but it is a college textbook. We all know that the rating of the book isn't too important because you have to get it anyway. I do like the book however. The tables are very useful in the back of the book, and I like the fact that the answers to select problems are listed right under the question.I took Fluid Mechanics last semester and the book layout was identical. I really like that layout, so I am sure this one will be fine.

Standard thermo textbook
Not a lot to write about this textbook, if you are stuck with it for a class, you really can't go around it.Generally the problems range from very easy to murderous, so it depends on your teacher what he/she assigns. The reading material itself is generally well written, with a fair amount of variance in good and dry text.Equations wise this is a very plain book, you are much better off starting from the beginning and pre-compiling an equation sheet as you go through the chapters, since the end summary of each chapter is usually very poor.Overall it's not the worst book I've faced in my academic career. It doesn't win any prizes either.

Great book for a difficult subject
This textbook is one of the few I actually read entirely through. The example problems are very helpful, and it is written in such a way that makes the difficult subject of thermodynamics seem much easier.I only wish it came with some more answers in the back of the book so when doing problems you can check if you're getting them right. I highly recommend this title!

Very Good
Highly recommended. Even it was a second hand book it looked as a new one. Best one as reference book on thermodynamics.
