This is a lovely book to look at and makes an interesting read. It looks at books that made history for a variety of reasons (publishing firsts, political commentary, religious reasons etc) and is full of beautiful pictures. An ideal gift for a book lover.

For someone without to learn about extroudinary educational books of the past this book is perfect for you! After learning about Dead Sea Scrolls I wanted to learn more about old historic books. Highly recommended especially for the price.

Fantastic book, interesting info, it's a DK so targeted at a younger audience, perfect gift for my 13 yr daughter, rather shallow for a scholar, and certainly most of the books did not "change history". Still very interesting though, and I thoroughly recommend it as an easy reader for adults, or an eye opened and educational resource for younger learners.

This is a wonderful book - an interesting way to look at how history has changed as a result of a wide range of books and publications. I have now given this as a gift to three different people, and they all love it.

This was an exercise in humility reading this book.I was confident I would be sharing my good choices of read with the author but found I knew hardly any of the books. What a come down but it really whetted my apetite to find out where I had gone wrong. Whole family in the same boat.
