Final Fantasy XIV Online Complete Edition (PS4)

I've loyally been a member of the FFXIV community for the past five years and can happily say that this is one of the best, most compelling games I've every played:Question - But wait, I only like final fantasy single player games for the focus on story!?Yes, me as well, I've played every Final Fantasy title and until FFXIV, had stayed away from MMORPG's specifically because I viewed their stories as 'inferior' - FFXIV thankfully bucks this trend. Throughout the 'main story line' you will come to meet hundreds of characters, heroes, great villains and plenty in-between. Because the story is so long and continues to be expanded by patches and expansions its got a real 'TV series' feel to it, you will care for these characters partly because you've spent so much time with them. While your own character is mute and dialogue options are hilariously limited, you still become attached to your own, heroic, warrior of light and his/her actions. FFXIV has one of the best stories of any core FF game, in fact it may be 'the best' and I can't wait to see where it goes.Fun factThere is currently over 75 hours of cut scenes, 28 million words and 34hrs of music within the series (pre Shadowbringers).Pros+ Character flexibility - one of the key strengths of FFXIV is being able to level every 'class' (warrior, black mage, white mage and so forth) under the one character. You simply can switch between the different classes at will, this is phenomenally useful and fun as it gives you easy access to a huge range of play-styles, each class with its own level and mini storyline.+ Core gameplay - the core gameplay of FFXIV is very strong, I do agree that until level 50 it is somewhat limiting, but from them onwards you have access to an extremely wide variety of abilities. It could certainly be better, but you will find gameplay fun & accessible for both controllers and mouse and keyboard.+ Gripping story and soundtrack - I've already harped on about the story, but the soundtrack is superb holding the current Guinness world record for longest original soundtrack! The music (in particular for boss showdowns) includes a huge range of original songs and styles. Its universally great.+ Final Fantasy Fan Service - There are a huge number of references to other classical tropes of the franchise, Final Fantasy Tactics in particular gets some great shoutouts in the latest expansion. Whoever is on the translation team for the series has always done a seller job, item descriptions and text is usually humorous and lucid.+ The Community - The FFXIV community is excellent, almost universally helpful and inclusive. The fan events and forum/reddit chats are great places to meet like-minded people. There is a thriving art community that supports this game as well. The development team is excellent at communicating with fans.Cons- Well if you are just starting now... - Yes, its a long way to go, the story for FFXIV progressively gets 'better' and the staff become more confident in driving the series. Seriously consider the level skip options to level 50 or 60 (you would have to pay for this), or make use of the 'preferred world' options for quicker levelling. Its never been easier to blaze through the story, but its a long haul!- Subscription/Mogstation based - Look i don't really have a problem with paying a monthly subscription, i do the same for Netflix - just do bear this in mind. Also there is a premium store with some surprisingly high prices for cosmetic items, please look forward to it!- Dated engine - Originally this game supported PS3 and the engine is now showing its age. Its still a great looking game supporting by fantastic art direction but its not 'the best looking game ever' - should such a thing matter to you!Question - Should I wait for Shadowbringers?- Yes, the latest expansion due in 100 days (at time of writing) will include access to all the other expansion packs and the base game. It is probably worth waiting for this as it will cost only a bit more.

One of the best MMORPGs and games, in general, I've ever played. Recommended by a friend about 2 months ago, I have been addicted since I started playing the free trial and then went ahead and purchased the full game - have already sunk around 125 hours.First off, the story is one of the most compelling from an MMORPG that I've seen, I won't spoil too much but it immediately follows on from the events of the original FF14 (which was deemed to be a significant failure), which is a clever way to create a relative narrative by Square Enix. The only complaint that I have of this entire game is the number of cutscenes there is, of course, they're all necessary and create a wonderful story, but some seem slightly pointless. Anyway, a great story with some unique and brilliant characters which really draw you in.The world of Eorzea is comprised of three central cities which all play a prominent role in the story, any can be freely set as your home location and you are free to choose from any of the three grand companies, regardless of your home city. Final Fantasy is famous for its world design and does not disappoint in this game either, with diverse and beautiful landscapes, all with their own dynamic weather and climates.The combat and class system is what truly sets this game apart in my opinion, with the player being able to play any role just be equipping a weapon used by that class. Not only that but the unique Final Fantasy classes are utilised perfectly in this MMO setting, using the series' already established roles and integrating them into 14 (Red Mage is my favourite). Combat is exciting and features loads of brilliant animations which liven up battles, and progressively gets more challenging as you further into the game. Dungeons, Trials, Duties and Raids all play a massive part in the game and really pave the way for some epic fights.My favourite part of this game has to be its features, however. There is simply so much content to keep you entertained, from collecting minions (little pets that follow you around and are found in abundance throughout the world) to mounts that cover many of the creatures found throughout the Final Fantasy universe, these even fly after the first expansion. Player housing is great as well, I often find myself chilling at our guild house with our own Free Company members; although it is a grind to buy your own room let alone a house it is a worthwhile experience as everything is customisable and there's hundreds of decorative items.I've probably missed a whole bunch of things about this game because I don't want to make the review too long, but if you're a fan of MMORPGs, Final Fantasy or just games in general, this is a must buy.

Excellent. Very different to Ps2 FF but also still fun to play. You get a lot for the price.

WARNING: If you buy this game new check 'preferred worlds', starting on a preferred world gives x2 XP!Played the free trial for two days an bought this full edition cause it is so well done hours feel like minutes so much content. I made mistake of playing free trial to level 18 an having to start again to get road to 60 buff (double xp) but totally worth it cause what took two days took four hours with buff. Starting on a preferred world also gives silver chocobo feathers an 15 days playtime.Honestly this Is something that should be made clear at start so I'm helping square out lol

The graphics are brilliant and the storyline is addictive. I can find nothing bad to say about this game. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Good game with good story the only problem is the beginning part even tho I loved it and even made me cry at the end most if not all the people u was playing with said that they hated it and they were speed running it to get to the first expansion which everyone prasis to high haven.So if you think that game is too boring and you might not enjoy it then get it a go until the first expansion after which if you still hate it then yeah maybe it's not for you.

They should update this page because this is actually a more up to date version which includes the Shadowbringers expansion too!

Bought and not able to play. Failed to mention this was a region 2 copy and I can not use the code in the case in the United States. Wasted money!

El juego es, creo, uno de los mejores mmorpg a los que he jugado. Lo malo es que no está en español y encima después del mes grátis hay que pagar desde 10.99€/mes para jugar para que encima no esté en tu idioma. Yo porque soy medio inglesa y puedo jugar sin problema en inglés, pero no está ni subtitulado y la historia es muy buena e importante por lo cual pierde muchísimo si no se entiende. Recomendable si solo quieres jugar a un buen mmorpg sin pay 2 win. No tan recomendable para los fans de Final Fantasy que quieran seguir la historia y no tengan un buen nivel de inglés, porque encima hablan en inglés antiguo jajaja
