Are these shoes good for walking

No,you can only wear for short time, unless broken in. I wouldn't recommend as a walking shoe.

My usual size is 8 1/2 .What size should I order from these sliper?

I am a size US 7 and I ordered the size 6.5-7. They just fit. They are not too tight. I think the next size up would probably be looser so it depends how you like your slippers to fit.

I would order as close to your size as possible. I am a size 7 (U.S.) and I ordered the 6.5-7. They fit without any room to spare without any socks just bare feet.
