Children have strong feeling and they can't always handle them very well. Perfect for sharing, How Are You Feeling Today? is packed with fun, imaginative ways to help children understand and cope with a whole range of different emotions. This delightful book gives parents the tools they need to help their child deal with those feelings - without it all ending in tears! A great dip-in book where children can choose a feeling that relates to them and then turn to the page that provides child-friendly strategies for dealing with that feeling. Helpful parent notes at the back of the book provide more ideas for parents to use with their child and other strategies to try out together and practice the all important skill of dealing with feelings. Review: Great book - Cute way to learn about feelings. I cannot wait to start using this with my daughter. She is still very young but I am building up her library already and reading to her every night. Review: Helps kids decipher multiple emotions! - This book is fantastic! We use it with the kids to help them process when they're overwhelmed by multiple emotions (our kids are 6 and 8). We start with the emotions page, a double-page with 8 circles listing all feelings (happy, sad, angry, jealous, excited, 'quiet', embarrassed, bored) and ask one by one "are you feeling ...". When we've established what they're feeling there's the option to go to the page for an explanation of what it is and ideas of things to do. Initially, we would go to the pages after and read about the feeling. Now the kids can just talk it through. The genius of it is that it helps them separate feelings and process them separately. For example, our son was really quiet ahead of going to camp for a week, going through the book brought out that he's happy to be going but sad as he'll miss us, nervous as he didn't know what to expect, but excited to see what they'll do. He could talk about each feeling and understand that it's ok and how to deal with it. Before he would get overwraught and it would come out in some kind of less than ideal behaviour.

Just Fab! :)
Perfect book to talk about how we feel with my five and a half year old. He is going through an angry stage, so I thought this book would be ideal- I was right! It is perfect! Each double page, talks about a different feeling- sad, happy, angry, shy, embarrassed, quiet (there is a few more). Each page talks about why we may feel this way and has some solutions and what to do or try to make yourself feel better. There are some fab ideas- not just to deal with feelings, but good ideas for general activities. For example, one idea for when feeling angry (I think) was to go around the house and find the letters of the alphabet in order. Such a fab activity! Really really pleased with the book! Buy it!

Too long but useful
Got this book for my 3 year old son to help him learn emotion words. The book is nicely illustrated with a different emotion on each page with a description of the feeling and ways to manage the emotion. Unfortunately it takes too long to sit and read the full book with my son as it is very long and he gets bored after 10 minutes, however I have found it useful when he is angry or sad to find the appropriate page and go through the tips with my son (dance on the spot/ jump up and down/get a cuddle etc)

Helped my grandson to explain his emotions
I bought this book for my daughter to read with her 8 year old son who was having trouble expressing his feelings and getting increasingly stressed. I gave them some money and looked after her older son while she took him out to have his favorite meal with this book. They read through it and slowly he started to open up just being able to choose an emotion and then discuss the options. Such a simple idea but so helpful.

Fabulous book
I rarely give reviews but this is a wonderful book. My daughter is 8 had been struggling to talk about things that were happening to her at school. I gave her this book and it was an instant hit. We when through it, she told me whow she'd felt during the day, we went to the relevant section and then read about the feeling and how it's OK to have that feeling, and some suggestions of how to be when she has that feeling. We then talked about what had happened to make her feel that way and I felt like we had a massive breakthrough. There's a feeling tracker at the back, so I printed out a couple of copies, which she fills in, and then we sit and talk about her day. She now asks us how we've been feeling and works through the book with us. Well written and illustrated.

A little complicated for younger children but a nice concept.
Not so good for younger children, perhaps 7 upwards ?
