An introductory book for absolute beginners, with attractive colour illustrations. Tunes for Ten Fingers is the perfect book for very young children - it encourages security at every step and uses material that makes learning fun! Review: Good piano book for beginners - This book is very good, it has helped my child progress with his teacher. I would recommend this book to parents who are wanting their child to have a good start in piano playing. Bright and colourful. Review: Great first book for kids - Good first book for learning piano. My 4 year old son is doing a good job progressing through this. He is able to read the notes fine. His tutor uses it with him every week. Its seems basic to start with but you can see there is a methodology to the way it is put together and it seems to work

A Fantastic Starter Book for Total Beginners
This is the first ever review I've felt compelled to do, despite having purchased lots of items from Amazon.(so good is this book!) Whilst waiting for our 2nd hand piano to be delivered, I ordered a total of 5 beginner piano books for both myself and my 8yr old daughter to learn from. This is the easiest one, and the only one my daughter wants to use - she loves it! As soon as she sits at the piano, she grabs this book! She has no previous musical 'training' so cannot read music at all, nor has she ever had a piano lesson. However, this book is so easy to understand, fun and clear, that she is able to work through the lessons without adult help. Although the book is aimed at younger children, I personally would recommend it to anyone who needs a basic, simple and clear book to learn from. (I have been using it myself and I have A-level music!) It teaches you a new note per page, the correct fingering, and basic music theory. However, if you are looking for a fast-moving book that will teach you quickly, this is NOT for you! It will NOT have you playing 2 hands simultaneously by the end! PS - Because of the shape of the book (landscape), it sits on the stand better than other books.

This book is a good alternative to the more fast-paced Piano Time series
This book is a good alternative to the more fast-paced Piano Time series. One note is introduced at a time, with plenty of supporting material. Details are given on a need-to-know basis, e.g. explaining the semibreve as a 4-beat note and introducing the term "semibreve" later in the book. There are simple colour pictures, but on a white background, which I think is much clearer and less distracting than books that include colours and pictures all over the page. My single issue with the book is that it introduces the pulse of the music as being divided into "beats or counts", and then goes on to use the term "counts", and later in the course, the term changes to "beats", which is usually the term that musicians will use for the rest of their lives. Why not simply use "beats" all the way through? Why create the need of a transition from "counts" to "beats"? I have gone through the book and whited out "counts" by hand and written in "beats". That may be just my personal preference, but I think it is important to be consistent. That is my only problem with the book. It is otherwise an excellent book for beginners who find the Piano Time series too fast.

Brilliant first time book for beginner piano learners
My little one is starting her journey with piano lessons, which ties in nicely with vocal lessons she has been attending for a number of years now. This book is written in a simple, easy to follow way, not too overwhelming. Beautiful colourful pages, silky shiny paper. Very appealing.

great book for children
I purchased this book for my 5yr old boy on recommendation from his piano teacher. Its a great first introduction to music and starting to play the piano. It is well laid out and easy to read. I was a little apprehensive about starting him so early as I had tried showing him a few months before, over the Christmas holidays, showing little interest. So far, he's had two lessons and loves it. A fun way to starting learning. Great book.

estupendo
Para empezar a estudiar piano es un libro estupendo. Muchas de las partituras son nursery rhymes, el idioma es todo en inglés aunque el lenguaje musical se puede facilmente adaptar al español si interesa.

Best book to get started
My kids have learned very easily to play with the help of this book and the piano teacher asked me to buy several other prints of this since she's using this book now for her beginner students. It's also nice that the songs inside are popular kids' songs and not some boring music-only tunes.

Great for my six year old
I am using this book with my granddaughter and she loves it. It's like having a coloring book for music! She is learning the piano key positions and their names and then will start learning notation and timing. It's fun while she is learning.
