I wanted a pair of lightweight walking shoes for summer that were waterproof and as my wife, an NHS nurse raves about how comfortable Sketchers shoes are to wear at work, these seemed to fit the bill. They're certainly a lightweight alternative to my leather walking boots and were comfortable straight out of the box, although I do think they're a large fit and I have had to insert thick-ish insoles. Unfortunately, that's the only positive for me. I usually walk the dogs about 3 miles in the morning, a couple of miles of which will be through fields in which the grass or crops are sometimes wet with rain or a heavy dew and so far they haven't proved very waterproof at all and they've taken a long time to dry unless, after removing them, I've stuffed them with screwed up newspaper. That aside the other big problem I've had is how hard they are to get on and off; I have to use a long handled shoe horn to put them on and lacing them up tightly is a real pain because there seem to be far too many lace holes which are too close together and on several occasions I've had to stop walking after a couple of hundred yards or so and tighten up one boot or the other. That's a shame as I don't really want my summer shoes to be harder to get on that my winter boots. The other big problem is that they look like they will give good ankle support but don't. Overall, they seem good quality and well made but the fact that they're not really waterproof and the difficulty getting them on and off are for me real downsides and I wouldn't recommend. UPDATE; I've had these about a month now and I'm sending them back. My socks get soaking wet within about twenty feet of walking through wet grass and I then have to do the rest of the walk with wet feet, horrible.

My last pair of shoes were Grisport Dartmouth walking shoes which were excellent - I wore them every day til they eventually split and were no longer waterproof. I loved those shoes but thought I would try something different. I am a size 9UK and purchase a 9UK and they seemed a little tight when I first put them on, but that was because my old shoes had lasted forever and had stretched a lot before not being fit for purpose. However I didn't want to send them back and now I am so pleased I didn't as they have "given" a bit & I have got more used to them. I'm sure they are going to last a long time - so far well worth the money.

These are very comfortable and lightweight. These do not cause toe numbness as my ones from Freeport Maine do.
