Perfect, non-slip for small external door ramp. Better than non-slip tape!
I made a rough wooden ramp for my back door so my dogs with back/leg issues can get in and out. Last year we applied tape to the painted ramp and it came off after a year and therefore need an alternative. I removed the previous tape, cleaned up and applied some of this and it came out amazing, it seems very durable and is super non-slip. I read a review that was posted with some advice on applying and making sure it is mixed properly which was helpful. In general, it is quite thin for oil based (in my limited experience) and obviously the non-slip grit is denser than the paint. So some pointers: 1. Mix thoroughly in the tin until there is minimal grit sitting on the bottom. You can see the grit start appearing in the paint whilst you stir. 2. Once mixed pour as quickly after stopping stirring into your paint kettle/tin. Do not let it sit, it sinks quick to the bottom. 3. Whilst painting from the kettle, keep stirring the bottom up else you will be left with a load of grit at the bottom which is hard to distribute and will never be applied as well as with the paint. 4. I applied it quite thick and slopped as the ramp is no masterpiece.

Very "Grippy"
I wanted this for an anti-slip finish to a wooden wheelchair ramp (7ft x 3ft) in my cousins front garden. Having purchased the paint I read on the tin that I needed to seal the plywood with primer. Primer comes in 5ltr tins and I didn't need that much! I e-mailed Blackfriars who replied very quickly saying that I could dilute some paint with about 10% white spirit and seal it with that - problem solved. After the "primer" the first coat of neat paint went on well and I left it to dry. When I started to apply the second neat coat the grains (sand?) in the paint clumped together like miniature sandbanks so I dipped tip of my brush in white spirit and worked the paint vigorously in all directions. This spread the grains nicely so that is how I carried on, paint on, dip brush tip, and spread. I did stir/mix the paint as directed so don't know what the problem was. However after that I can say that the surface is very good, very "grippy" even when wet, and it has rained almost every day since! It has only been in use for a few weeks so don't know how it will last but there is half a tin left to do another coat or two, hopefully next summer.

Anti slip
Coverage is good but ruined my brushes! Itโs truly anti slip but difficult to clean. Lovely colour but paint has started rubbing off (2 coats) so not good in heavy traffic areas Smells divine once dried and not that bad during application.

Blackfriars exterior step paint- mid grey
I used this paint for exterior concrete steps leading into my house. The colour is very good and coordinated well with my painted window sills. It was easy to apply . I kept stirring it all the time to benefit from the non slip quality of the paint.Hopefully it will wear well and last a good while.

Great paint but different shades
By ordering a few at a time I expected the same shade or batch number but they where a different shade. Overall great paint and applies great

Easy ro apply
Bought for my front doorstep that needed a face-lift. It was easy to apply and despite the size of the tin it went a long way. I was worried about winter algae making my step slippy so after a pressure wash to prep I painted this on. Not only does it look smart I won't have to worry about slipping with my mobility walker when stepping out anymore.

Very thin.
It is very thin but covers well. Great value for money. Low odour. Despite it raining a very short time after application, it stayed in tact. Would reccomend.
