Makers: Women Who Make America

Inspiring Fight that Changed the World
This is a wonderful series created by PBS. each of the 3 parts charts the progress of the Women's Liberation Movement. Filled with clips, photos, interviews, news stories. and videos from each era, you learn a wonderful story of how ordinary women overcame amazing odds. Today, American women have some of the greatest freedoms and opportunities in the world. But it wasn't always so. By focusing in each of the different decades, it's easy to see how far we've come. Using real life examples and stories, the film reveals the turmoil and passion of women as they fought for equality in education, employment, politics, economics, and society. I use this in my Women's History class and my students love it. They are shocked to learn how women had to fight to gain domestic violence laws, play sports, earn equal pay or even access to jobs once held only by men. It truly is an eye opener for anyone born after 1980. It's worth a watch by both men and women.

Very good documentary
Very good and informative! I saw this several months ago on PBS and bought this for my grown daughters so they could see womenโs history and how far we have come. I actually remember some of this because I was a teenager in the 70s and have told them about some of these things. They loved it!

Why we are the women we are today?
Check out this video. If you were a women of the 70's you will understand. Those women who got arrested on our behalf. Those that marched in San Francisco or if you decided not to wear a bra and burned it. This is a fabulous video of women who fought to open many doors for us. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

This flick will light a fire under your ass! ...
This flick will light a fire under your ass! It will surprise, astonish & shock, but mostly it'll leave you horrified at all of the unjust that women have had to face & overcome up to now... & to think how far we have yet to go. That feeling of horror quickly turns into motivation & a drive to do something, anything, which will secure our place in this world as equal w/ men - something that is already widely known, though not recognized or accepted.

Perfect for celebrating 'Womens Equality Day'
Each year at work we celebrate Womens Equality Day with, "Lunch and a Movie". This was an excellent theme movie for the special occasion and after organizing this event for 5 years, I was running out of appropriate movies. Of course, this one is 3 hours long -- way longer than our lunch break, but after showing the first part, everyone agreed, we all needed to get back together again for a brown bag lunch and finish watching every last minute. This movie is an amazing way to look back and see all the changes that took place over the past 40 years.

What I wanted; when I wanted it.
Delivered quickly and a high quality product. The video is a great reminder of those who made history and the opportunities we enjoy today. Having lived through much of this, I know what a difference there is today and what it took to get here. There is more to do and we also need to turn our attention to how we raise our boys. They have been left out of the equation.

Fantastic and nostalgic for anyone who has lived through the ...
Fantastic and nostalgic for anyone who has lived through the past 50 years of women's progress, men and women alike, but it is long. I would hope that a younger audience would discover this and appreciate those whose shoulders they are standing on as well as how fragile those gains might be in the future if not protected, and how much work is left to be done.

Impressive
Just watched this on PBS....blown away by the thought and care that went into making it and sharing it with a world that seems to have forgotten exactly how hard many people worked so that I would EXPECT that I have the RIGHT to write this review and have it be read. THANK YOU for your work. The production is well worth the time. Please share it with everyone you can think of.
