ChordBuddy Guitar Learning System

Game Changer
This is a really great product, and I have recommended it to anyone that will listen. I bought ours for my daughter for the Christmas just after she had turned nine, we followed the DVD and song book together and pretty quickly moved onto a Beatles songbook using the same four chords (D, C, G, Em). Using the ChordBuddy she went from not playing at all, to being able to stand up in front of the school assembly playing and singing 'Let It Be' in the April. For me this is a big deal because she's a naturally shy/reserved kid, but such was the improved confidence in her own abilities. By August she had decided herself to move onto proper chords (open, barre, and power); this is all well within one year and still before her tenth birthday. By really breaking down and simplifying the coordination of right and left hand activities on the guitar it makes the first part of the learning journey just so much easier to get your head around. Highly recommended for anyone that would like to start playing guitar, it really doesn't get any simpler than this.

Brilliant for older people or anyone with limited finger mobility
I"ve been a full time guitar teacher for 16 years. I've had all sorts of students from beginners to advanced, young to old, in all the popular styles. electric, acoustic, classical, grade exams or students who just play for fun. A gentleman started guitar lessons with me recently he's 74 years old and although really enthusiastic has been struggling with the left hand chords. The skin on his finger tips is quite thin and wasn't developing the thick skin required to get a clear sound on the left hand. We tried gorilla tips for the finger tips with some success. Still the left hand was struggling to form chords and change quickly enough to play simple songs. His sense of rhythm and strumming is great and he loves to sing along to Johnny Cash, Elvis, Dean Martin etc. I took a chance and ordered him a chord buddy. From the first few strums he was absolutely delighted to be making nice clear chords and strumming through the 60 chord songbook. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone of every age or musical style because the chord buddy is limited to 4 chords in the key of G and you can't use a capo. But if your goal is to sing and play and your comfortable in that vocal range or you want to back up a friend it's great. Especially if you have limited mobility or even a disability in the left hand, (the buttons can be played with one finger) I think the chord buddy a blessing and allows people who otherwise wouldn't have access to the guitar great enjoyment and sense of achievement. So the product gets 5 stars from me.The packaging gets a big fat zero! Amazons Fault!Mine was delivered without even an envelope jiffy bag box anything. The courier labels were stuck directly over the product information, front and back, box was squashed and one end had a flap open, luckily no small parts were missing. If it was a present I'd have been embarrassed to give it to anyone and would have returned it.It's the first time in 20 years of mail ordering products that I've encountered such a lazy careless attitudeto P&P Maybe that should that just be one P?Anyway the product deserves a strong recommendation so I went ahead it with a positive review hope it helps!

Nice concept but description should be clearer
I would give 5 stars for the concept but unfortunaetly can only give one for the product as I was unable to use it. This device states that it fits most guitars! Issue I had was it didn't fit my acoustic guitar as it had to wide a neck, Tried it on an electric guitar I had and was almost impossible to place the item correctly as it didn't sit where the video of how to fit it showed. Also tried it on my sons 3/4 guitar but again difficult to get in right place and was getting hit and miss results. Returned the item as unusable. Such a shame as the concept of it is great. Back to the old school way of learning for me!

the width of the of neck where the chord buddy fits
There is no mention in the information regarding thee width of the NECK, how do you fit it correctly if the chord buddy bracket is not wide enough?? I don't want to send it back, I want to play. The only way I see it is to cut the NECK at the NUT end, to make it narrower! Not very happy with the info provided. I need feed back! is the another model of the chord buddy which will fit the wider NECK varieties. [there is no mention on UTUBE about this problem]Please reply david hilton

Like Magic
Watched dvd and still doing so. Fitted the device and slowly but surely getting the hang of it. If you have problems, as I have, with aging finger joints, this is a good way to get round the difficulties. It still takes practice but I find it most enjoyable and it works.

Brilliant device. Highly recommended
Brilliant. The combination of the device, the DVD and the instruction book make this so simple to follow. Starting to learn guitar in my sixties I thought it was unlikely I would get very far but after just a few days of receiving my package I really feel I am getting somewhere. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn guitar but having trouble.
