A delicious bowl of brose.
I've been a fan of oatmeal for many years. Usually I get the Hamylyn brand but I thought I would treat myself to the Wholefood Earth brand. It actually arrived the same day, which was a bonus.I make Brose with oatmeal. It's a very simple porridge. You don't need to boil on the cooker. All you need is a bowl and something to stir the brose with. If you have it, use a spurtle and if you don't have a spurtle, use a fork.Put half a dozen spoonfulls of oatmeal into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and then add the freshly boiled water and stir. Wait a few minutes and stir again and keep stirring occasionally until the oatmeal has absorbed the water. You might have to add more oatmeal or boiling water to get it right. This brand of oatmeal is rough and therefor takes time to get it right.Once it's ready, add a sliced banana and top off with natural yoghurt and enjoy. As I say, it takes time until you feel the right consistency. It should be the consistency like porridge made from porridge oats. Not runny and not so stiff that a spoon can stand up in the bowl. It's a very nutritious meal, simple to make, quick to make, very filling (it will keep you going for hours) and actually very tasty, particularly with the addition of a banana and yoghurt. With Wholefood Earth oatmeal, the taste is quite nutty. Not at all unpleasant or boring. Imagine a meal, ready in ten minutes which only needs a kettle of boiling water and a lot of stirring. As a matter of interest, when I were a young lad, I worked on farms and estates in Scotland and lived in a bothy with four other guys. Besides our pay, which was not a lot of money, we got a large sack of oatmeal and a pint of milk a day as benefits in kind, or perks as they were commonly known. We worked hard and lived mainly on brose, milk and home made soup which the farmer's wife would sometimes make us at lunch time. I've got to say, for young men who had no time or patience to make mince and tatties, brose was so convenient and we loved the stuff. The English used to joke that they feed their horses with what the Scots people eat, and the Scots used to joke that they were as hardy as English horses. There's a long history of oats being provided free for farm workers, although that is very rare nowadays.Give it a try, you might like it.

Lovely porridge!
I buy these once in a while because I don't eat a lot of porridge but when I do, I don't want the one processed to death, so it cooks in 2 minutes and then lasts about 10 minutes in the stomach. These oats are not Baby food, they take time of course to cook but they will not let me down by the time I have left home and got on the tube to work. Also, they are tasty, if you gently roast them on butter before cooking they have a lovely nutty flavour. They are grown up food.

Excellent porridge
I decided to order a bag of this as a change from my usual rolled whole oats, and I'm now a total convert! The porridge you get from these is nuttier and chewier than porridge made with rolled oats; even though it takes a lot longer to cook, you can cook a pot of 4-5 portions of it and refrigerate the portions because it actually keeps well for several days.

Nice but a bit pricey.
I like these because they are less processed than rolled oats. Good for the gut!Delicious. Take a bit longer to cook. Use lots of liquid.

Great Value
These organic, pinhead oats are exceptionally good value for money when compared to other brands on Amazon and in supermarkets. Steel cut, pinhead oats like these are usually quite a lot more expensive to buy than rolled oats but do make a far superior porridge, which is why some people are prepared to pay a premium for them over rolled oats. However, these steel cut, organic, pinhead oats are cheaper than most brands of rolled oats that you could buy in a supermarket. As such, they are a true bargain!

Really dissapointed of the second bag
I have purchased previously this oats and they were fantastic and tasty using them as overnight oats. Ordered a second bag and it's just inedible, not soak . Unfortunately is not returnable and now I'm with a full bag of expensive inedible item . Really lost my confidence to order another bag in the hope that it would be as the first
