Nothing to fault and very cheap!
For less than a pound including postage and packaging, I'm not sure where you can really go wrong with this Silverline 282641 cork sanding block. The small 23g size fits into an adult hand comfortably and is therefore the right size for most minor sanding jobs, such as smoothing plaster or preparing wood before painting it. Simply wrap your sandpaper around the cork block and off you go, there are no instructions required, it's self-explanatory. Whilst the paper itself will have a fairly limited lifespan (such is its nature), the block seems to remain in a good condition indefinitely, so don't see the low price as an indication of quality. It will probably outlive your current DIY project and be around for the next one if not the one after that. Thankfully, with it being so small, it's easy to find a space in which to store it.I'm sure any old sandpaper will do the trick, there's absolutely no science to this. However, if you're after a cheap tried and tested solution to order to use with this product, I have personally previously paired it with Blue Spot 19850 assorted sandpaper, also available from Amazon. The Silverline block is excellent value and does exactly what it promises. Although there are no bells and whistles in its design or packaging, there's no reason at all why there should be. This is just a basic block for you to grip onto and to help you sand things more easily. Whilst I'm only an amateur DIYer rather than a professional, I found this met my needs and expectations, and I would recommend this product to anyone else who simply wants to sand an imperfect surface without sanding their hand to shreds at the same time. Absolutely nothing to fault here, not even the cost. Very happy customer. I would buy this again, but I don't think I'll need to replace the original anytime soon.

Cheap and reliable.
I have a wide array of different types of blocks.I didn't think a block without a true locking mechanism would be much good. I was wrong. The size is perfect for my hand and it is properly flat where it matters. When you have many grades of paper to get through, it makes sense. The way that you place the paper on it and grip it means it doesn't come loose in use.It works well with wet and dry and it doesn't swell up or disintegrate after being submerged. It's cheap and functions as expected.

Just what I needed
Easy to sand things using these, if you don't have a proper sander this with sanding paper works just fine

Lump of cork
A finely-sculpted hand-sized lump of cork to wrap sandpaper around. With its minimalist design, which shuns unnecessary frippery, this is the lump of cork you need if you want to wrap sandpaper around one. I had to buy two, but I like them both the same.

Cheap low quality sanding block
Cheap and disappointing sanding block suitable only for rough work. This block is made from coarse lumpy cork. The base is smoother, but not flat.

Works just fine
The block is just the right size to fit the hand and is very useful when sanding large flat areas (we have been using 3M sandpaper which works well with this block). This is a good quality, which after a few uses has not worn down yet – the diagonal edges on the side to fit the sand paper, so eliminates wearing away at the sand paper. To get the best out your block, best wrap the sandpaper around the block, and holds it in place, by inserting a fitted piece of cardboard under the sandpaper, you can soften the impact on the wood and protect against tears or uneven wear on the sandpaper. By and large, I have found sanding blocks are helpful because they prevent the "waves" created by plain sandpaper.

Happy to recommend this product to everyone looking for a cheap sanding block that does a basic job (and nothing more)
Bought two of these for £0.84 each with free P&P in August 2015 for my D.I.Y. painting job.Good point is that it's easy to use with any sandpaper (that you have to buy separately) as long as you have pins (again that you have to buy separately) that you stick to keep the sandpaper from slipping. There is no "sandpaper trapping section" on the block or wing nut to undo to place a new sheet of sand paper or anything like that - it literally is just a cork block. But the really bad point (and hence why I only gave it four out of five stars) is that it's not the most comfortable shape to hold for long periods of time. But is it easier to sand down your walls with a sanding block than just with sanding paper on a sheet - yes, definitely, much easier with this sanding block XDSo, overall, I am HAPPY TO RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO OTHERS and will be repurchasing for myself if needed again (as both blocks are still intact and usable, despite sanding down four rooms this year)!
