It's made of foam
For the price, I was expecting something more robust, but it's made of painted spray foam. Sure it looks cool and the magnets are super strong, but it needed a good washing before use because some foam was flaking off in tiny beads from manufacturing. I would probably be happy with it if it was half the price that it is. It really does look good in my tank and seems to stand up well to water as I have it partially submerged. But the fact that it is just foam is disappointing.

Not the best, but I still like it
Right off the bat, all the little specks- I have no idea what this thing is made out of. But I had to clean it multiple times to get rid of all the specks that come off on my hands. Once it was fully clean, I went to attach it to my tank. Unfortunately when I opened it and went to take off the parts that stick to the glass (the magnets) the piece of whatever it is covering the magnets, completely separated from the magnet. So I had a completely exposed magnet :( there was no way to fix it except hot glue, which I luckily had, but as a precaution, I've put some paper circles I cut out in the places to extra protect the glass of the terrarium from the magnets (I am rather worried about the strong magnets damaging my glass since once doesn't want to stay covered properly. If the magnets stay covered for you, just wash the whole thing til you stop getting little pieces everywhere, then it's fine. My gecko mostly likes to hangout of top of it instead of inside it. And as he gets to fill size, it may be a bit small for him. But while he's tiny, I'm sure he'll go inside sometime. I put some soft moss in there as well. At the very least I can say it will NOT fall. It is very secure with those strong magnets.

Holds on the glass very well
The magnets are really strong. Be careful when putting them near the glass because it will get sucked to the other magnet and hit the glass. My lg only used it to check it out but she doesn't like being exposed and the only available spot for it is on the side where I don't have any background. And be careful about putting it near the basking spot because the heat light will burn it.

Decent sized- powerful magnets...
Bought this for my Crested Gecko. She is just under a year old, 28 grams, and about 4-4.5in from nose to base of her tail. I got the size small in granite. Much like the other reviews here, it came a little dusty with foam residue. For some reason it came in a perishable parcel box, although my girlfriend got one as well and it came in a bubble wrap bag. It's lightweight and the magnets are strong enough to break your terrarium glass if you're not careful enough. Both a Crested Gecko and a Leopard Gecko (we each have one) can fit in the holes and maneuver around with ease, but for a leopard I would recommend a medium or a large. Pleased with this product and it really amps up the cage decor.

It is foam and yet does a very good job.
I was first disappointed with the weight and feeling of the item: it is made of foam. Don't let that trick you though: I realized he foam was coated and water proof when I washed the item. Also, the "rock" looks like a real one and if a very piece in a terrarium. Also, the hideout has no background: it can be a problem if you have too much light coming from the back, but it can also be a nice way to observe your gecko when he is hiding since you can just look through the glass of the terrarium. Personally I added a little piece of carton to ensure not too many light is coming in.As for the magnets they are very strong. They could probably support 10 or 20 geckos, I was literally impressed when I tried to remove them! I am starting to consider using m y ledge for other purposes, such as supporting branches or plants since the magnets are strong enough for that.Bottom line: don't let the foam trick you: the product looks real and is sturdy!

My female crested loves this hide.
This hide was exactly what my crested gecko set up needed. It is easy to install (careful with your glass the magnets are strong) and take out for cleaning. It has a natural look that blends nicely with natural design enclosures. It has more than one entrance/exit for the geckos to get in and out, but has enough solid walls to make them feel hidden and secure. Glass side is wide open so you can easily see in from the outside of the tank, but also makes it so you need to put it onto tank side that is less exposed to the room so they don't feel exposed. Lightweight material so no worries for hanging on the glass. It took a day or two before my female ventured in there, but now even though there are several hides in the enclosure this is where she always chooses to go, and doesn't let the male take it from her. Just rinse thoroughly before use to get rid of manufacturing dust.

Solid and cost-effective hide
I purchased this for my juvenile corn snake and it performs well. It provides a good elevated hide that he loves to sleep in when he wants to be on the cool end of his thermal gradient. It is smooth on the inside and the magnets are very strong for their size, showing no give under the weight of my snake or my hand when testing the magnetism. My only concern with this product is that the edges on the entrance, though not incredibly hard, are rather rough, making removing Maize (my snake) a hastle when I need to perform cage maintenance, as his scales catch on the sides. This does not make it unusable, but I must take extra caution when removing him from it. This could be solved with an electric file of some sort, yet my access to those kinds of tools is slim to none.Completely worth the purchase and $20, yet not perfect.

Good hide, with some training they go in
I have a created gecko terrarium whose tank is a living vivarium. I needed a hide for him while we wait for the foliage to grow taller to create better hiding spots. At first he wouldn’t go into it, only hang out on the wall under it. So every day for a few weeks I would pick him up in the morning and place him in front of the opening of the hide and let him go in. Now every morning he does it without the need for me to do it. I keep sphagnum moss inside it but keep it dry as he doesn’t need to be wet all day.
