No more cats
Quick Edit - if you look at the last 3 photos you’ll notice the wider width where the paper clip type part is, so too make the spray reach at a wider angel you need to unclip the 2 brackets and put one facing left and one facing right and that way you get a wider spraying across the garden , hope that makes sense but the last 3 photos will help 👍🏻 I imagine like everyone that’s looking to purchase this has had enough of cats pooping in there garden and believe me I’ve tried everything so I gave this a go and well - IT WORKS 🙂 - after reading a few reviews i sort of new what I’d have to do straight away to make this perfect and work and work without any leaks. First thing i noticed and you’ll notice is how heavy it is as in top heavy, once you’ve put the tube and spike together the first thought was it’s like a wobbly head toy hence what you need to do to make it perfect. I cut 22” from a broom handle and decided where my best position would be and hammered it into place and far enough down just too be below the main unit so the plastic pipe and my pole could be secured together with 2 cable ties, you can see from the photos the different stages of securing the cat spray. From the reviews I’ve read the unit just wobbles with the sheer amount of water spraying around as the spike just isn’t long enough to go that deep into the soil to keep it sturdy enough. It’ll still work but I’d say secure it with a pole and cable ties and job done. Tape every thread with plumbers tape and remember to apply it clockwise, at first when i did this the main pipe going up into the head of the sprayer kept on leaking so i took it apart and the re taped the threads and it lasted a while as in hours then leaked again. So i took it apart again and thought ok maybe instead of unwrapping the tape I’d just go around it again and leave the previous tape on as I’ve read it’s usually 10 wraps around a thread and I don’t think i actually went around 10 times plus i noticed the threads on the tube are quite deep and not fine thin threads so would need more tape. At the back of my mind was don’t put too much tape on as when you screw the pipes together the thickness of tape will crack the pipe and then that’s basically game over so do the 10 wraps and then see if it leaks and when you undue the pipe what you’ll notice is the tape is pushed into the grooves quite a lot hence why you need to not unwrap the tape and just apply a bit more. So it’s secured into the ground and all threads taped up and time too see it in action and it doesn’t disappoint, the water blasted across the lawn hit the back fence and then some lol so at this point I’d say once you’ve done all of the above do this little tweak as to rain back the jet spray, there’s a dial at the top it says - MAX - MIN - you’ll see the dial it’s got notches cut into it and a the top there’s a switch, the only way i can describe it to be honest and it has an arrow so push down and you can then turn the dial and do it one notch at a time if you can as each notch will either increase or decrease the distance of the spray. There’s a little red screw to the right and hopefully you can see it from the photos and you can screw that further in or out too narrow the width of the spray but I’d just leave it as it came as once you adjust the notches of the distance the width of the spray does adjust as well so the longer you go as in distance the more of a jet stream stream you get. If you’re lucky enough too have a huge garden unlike me you can link multiple units together, if you look at the bottom of the black pipe you’ll see a blanked off connector and all you need to do is unscrew the cap and put on the relevant hose adapter and link up another unit and off you go. I’ve read people saying - it’s going off and nothing is there no cats or foxes etc , depending if you’ve placed it in an area where there’s lot of bushes trees planted areas the unit will go off because of the movement of bushes caused by wind !! It will go off with movement and it may well not be a cat it’ll probably be the bushes in the garden so maybe re position the unit away from big established bushes. Follow the guide and setup and you’ll be happy with the results as I’ve had no cats in my garden since. But and a big one at that, this is a summer cure of keeping cats away as come the winter pipes freeze and I’m not sure even with insulating the hose pipes and the unit it would freeze and in that case the unit would crack with the frozen water inside the unit. But that said I’d 100% buy this and have a summer of no cat poop and put up with a bit of frozen poop, follow the guide and you’ll fingers crossed never see a cat poop in the garden again.

Does the job but needs some intervention
After investing in some doves, every cat in the damn neighborhood thought I had just opened an all-you-cat-eat buffet bar, so started turning up in our garden to peruse the menu. Even cats we hadn't seen before appeared, having apparently heard a new restaurant was opening. My cat & dog also decided to get in on the fun & started hunting the poor birds, by patrolling around the outside of their netting & pouncing on any that got too close to the edge. Naturally, I hadn't invested in a load of birds to feed everyone else, so decided to take action to ensure that we were all on the same page - these birds were NOT for munching on. After trying to work out the best deterrent, stopping short of sitting outside 24/7 with a water pistol & a rolled-up newspaper, I found one of these motion detector sprayers on Amazon & decided to try it. So, setting it up was simple enough. I quickly found that the jet arcs upwards which has a good range & is good for catching unsuspecting cats & dogs, but quickly becomes annoying when you try to walk past it & think you have given it a wide enough berth, only to get sprayed in the rear & end up with soggy trousers. It does leak a bit, so needs to be perhaps given some PTF tape or similar to ensure that the dripping is kept to a minimum. Also, the stake it comes with is pretty useless, as it's brittle and flimsy & the force of this thing going off will quickly cause it to become loose in the ground. It's best secured to something that won't move. I adapted it with various things like cable ties etc to ensure the jet went where I wanted it to, which worked well. Having accidentally tested it a few times, I was confident my trap was set, so now I just had to wait. It didn't take long & I was able to watch with smug delight whenever an unsuspecting animal ventured near to the invisible barrier & then promptly got a face full of cold water & a fright. In fact, it worked so well that within a matter of days, the dog & cat both cowered in fear if a bird went near them, thinking they were going to get sprayed. They decided that maybe bothering these birds was not worth it & quickly learned to ignore them. There was something very satisfying about sitting in the living room & hearing the sprayer going off, quickly followed by a bang as a random cat got too close, got blasted & hit the fence, knowing that they wouldn't be quick to return. Now I have a totally well-trained & submissive dog & cat that both tolerate my birds, having learned to associate harassing the birds with getting cold & wet. My birds are now free-roaming & wander around the garden & are not bothered by the other household occupants. However, it's now been 2 years since we got the neighboring cats educated to the fact our garden was a no-go zone & after some more moved in who hadn't got the memo, they started turning up & now it seems the others have started reappearing again also having realized that the new cats aren't getting soaked, so it looks like I need to invest in another one, as I gave my original away to my mum, who was having issues with a heron.

These are cheap, they are Chinese, but they do work well.. I initially delayed my comments about this sprinkler so I may test it properly. Everything from the sensor up is good, everything below the sensor is garbage and has to be changed out before using it. It's that whole spike coming down from the sensor unit, totally cheap, complete junk.. I went to home depot and for about $2.00 I fixed the entire bottom half with quality parts. So here is all the really important stuff you need to know. This works really well as a deer fence, I purchased three of these at the beginning of the 2017 growing season, and now we are coming to the end of that growing season. I have lots of dear that love my back yard, it is completely protected from predictors, has about 6 acres of really yummy grass with a natural blackberry fence. The deer love it, there is protected shade, water, food, pretty much everything a deer would want. My garden is right in there and is not fenced. These motion sensor sprinklers have kept the deer out of the garden, but they still hang out in the yard. Just away from the sprinklers range. It's August now and except for the time I turned them off and forgot to turn them back on for a couple of days, I had not a single deer nibble in my garden. during the couple of days where I left them off, the deer learned they were off and helped them selves to a few things but have not since I turned them back on. Also, these sprinklers will detect any motion, tree branches, tall grass, anything.. at first I had them set to maximum and they detected cars driving on the street about 500 to 600 feet away. So I dialed them down and they stopped going off and scaring the cars away. They are not well suited for placing low to the ground, unless you have nothing down there that blows in the wind. when they are simply stuck in the ground with the spike they come with, they will detect grass and weed movement and just cycle constantly. They should be kept up higher. My deer fence is just below chest height for me (I am 6' 2") and has worked perfectly thought the growing season. I set them at every 20 feet to make a 60 foot wall. I feel that I could get away with every 25 to 35 feet apart but I haven't tried it. I ran 10 foot PVC with pipes coming up every 10 feet and used every other one for the sprinklers. it seems to work well. My garden does have a natural beerier on one side, otherwise I would have need a row on the other side as well. They should be set up for a narrow arc, just so one just overlaps the others spray range. That seems to work well. The sensors need to be kept clean or you will loose sensor resolution. They have a good battery life as long as they are not being triggered constantly, and if they do trigger constantly, look around for what might be causing it, a tall weed that is 30' away can trigger them if the sensitivity it too high. It is better to set the sensitivity lower so the animals get hit with the full force of the sprinkler as opposed to just getting some sprinkles on them from further out.. So playing with the adjustments is crucial.. They haven't failed me yet, I still have a garden with no physical fence around it. Proper setup is the key, and based on setup, your results may vary.
