AppleStudio Display - Standard Glass - Tilt- and Height-Adjustable Stand ​​​​​​​

I recommend the ASD if you have a Mac. . . everything just works seamlessly. The speakers are incredible for a monitor. The build quality is great - not plastic garbage. But most importantly, I can work on this all day long and my eyes don’t feel fatigued (which they have in the past working on other supposedly good monitors). If you’re obsessed with refresh rate, this is not for you. But if you want a monitor that provides a sharp image and crystal clear text that you can use for hours a day without eye strain, this is worth it imo.

First off, the Apple Studio Display is fantastic. Colors are beautiful and all the text is bright and crisp. I snagged one with the additional height adjustment on the stand and really like the extra flexibility. If you want to know more about this monitor, there are other reviews that cover it, but I am super pleased.AppleCare+So the purpose of this review is to explain the process for getting AppleCare+ post-purchase in case you had a change of heart. Looking back, I should have purchased through Amazon but initially didn't and so needed to wait for it to arrive to get a serial number so I could contact Apple.The issue is that if you try to put the serial number in to purchase AppleCare+ on the Apple website you are told by an automated pop-up that the item is not eligible. This is actually NOT true. The issue is that the purchase date is not reported to Apple from Amazon and I believe Amazon buys these in bulk from Apple so the purchase date is likely set to the original date Amazon bought them from Apple which exceeds the 90 day limit for eligibility.So what needs to happen is that you need to call into Apple support to get the Purchase Date reset for the Studio Display. The first Apple customer service rep even said "huh...I guess this cannot be covered" on the phone because she just tried to enter the serial number like I did and got the message it was not eligible. I had to tell her that it's a simple case of getting the purchase date reset, as Amazon is an authorized reseller of Apple products (I confirmed this with Apple prior to purchase from Amazon)...as long as it shows both Shipped and Sold by Amazon and NOT a third party (and not used).So then she connected me with the department that handles AppleCare licensing and I had to provide the receipt from Amazon showing the purchase date via uploading the PDF receipt and then they reset the purchase date for the serial number of my unit to my personal Amazon purchase date. Then you wait a few days for the servers to update and then you can buy AppleCare+ through the normal links on Apple. Problem solved.So think about if you want AppleCare+ and just buy it through Amazon, but if you don't and change your mind, within 90 days after your purchase date from Amazon, you can buy AppleCare+ directly through Apple if you follow the procedure above. I just wanted to share this as there is conflicting info I have read from others here saying you cannot purchase it after the fact, which is incorrect information.

These monitors have a bright, beautiful, 27-inch picture and they work seamlessly with Apple computers. At $1,299., they are $300 less than what Apple sells them for., and they are brand new in sealed original boxes (they ship in this box inside of another box, so they should arrive in perfect condition. Apple will not even price match down to this price. I bought two!

I took a chance and I'm using this monitor with a PC and an Nvidia 3060Ti graphics card. Make sure to purchase a bi-directional DisplayPort 1.4 to USB-C cable that supports 40 Gbps or 8k at 60Hz. Bi-directional is the key - many cables are not. I got mine here on Amazon.1) Since the monitor does not have a power button, it may not turn on right away depending on the order in which the cables are connected. If it does not turn on, you may have to disconnect the DisplayPort end of the cable from your graphics card and reinsert. Unplugging the USB-C end from the monitor didn't seem to work for me. Or try leaving the display cable plugged in and then just unplugging and reinserting the power cable. Be careful not to arc and short out the display if you have old recepticals or power strips. Once the diplay is on, it seems to go to sleep and wake back up with a mouse gesture just fine.2) The monitor is VERY bright. I have not found a good way to adjust the brightness in Windows yet. None of the 3rd-party utilities seem to work with this display yet. White backgrounds in APPs can be a bit jarring in a dark room, but are bearable in a well lit room. The white is the purest white I have ever seen on a monitor.3) The monitor defaulted to 8-bit color. I set the display to 10-bit color in the Nvidia Control Center. (It also shows the ability to select 12-bit.)4) It is a standard IPS panel but Apple seems to have higher quality controls than other manufacturers. So there is a small amount of the typical IPS glow or back light bleed, but it is pretty uniform over the display with very minimal spotlighting in the corners. My 12.9" iPad Pro has 2596 full array backlight dimming zones and the $5,000 Apple Pro Display XDR only has 576 zones. So I didn't think the Pro Display XDR had enough zones to control blooming - especially for the price. I would love to see a version of this monitor with the same number of local dimming zones as my iPad and support for HDR.I got this monitor new for $250 off MSRP during a one day sale and I am happy with my purchase so far.
