Great for large families
I bake a lot for large groups so getting these Food to Live organic quick cooking rolled oats in bulk is helpful to have on hand. It comes in 2 separate bags which is so nice to already have separated into two smaller portions for easier handling and not having to open the entire 12 pounds at once, keeping them fresher for longer. The bags are resealable and that is really nice as well. The back of the bag has easy stovetop preparation instructions which makes a super easy and quick bowl of oats that I then dressed up with some sweetener and fruit. There are tons of recipes online that give ideas for using these in many other ways from breads to muffins to cookies and I'm looking forward to trying, and sharing, many of them.

EXCELLENT quick cooking rolled oats.
This arrives in two 6 pound resealable bags. They are USDA organic. They are quick cooking rolled oats.To try them out:I added about a 1/4 cup of oats to some almond milk and cooked on the stove. I did cook them longer than 1 minute but it was on low heat. I was amazed with how creamy the bowl of oats turned out to be. The oats soaked up the almond milk very well.I LOVED that there was no paper container flavor to it like others that come in cardboard cylinders.5 stars. This is a very easy 5 stars. The oats cooked great. They taste great. Two 6 pound bags. Very versatile.

Organic Quick Cooking Rolled Oats 1 1/2 pounds
Certified USDA organic this 1 1/2 pound bag of quick oats cooks fast and creates a hearty and healthy breakfast. Each 1 1/2 pound bag contains approximately 17 one-half cup dry servings of oatmeal. There are no directions on the bag but cooking is simple whether on a cooktop or in the microwave. The basic recipe proportion is 1 cup liquid to 1/2 cup oats. Choices for the liquid include water, milk or milk substitutes although I often use a ratio of 2/3 apple cider to 1/3 water which is delicious.Cooktop instructions are to bring the water and a pinch of salt to a boil, stir in the oats, reduce heat to medium, continue to cook for a minute, then cover the pan, turn off the heat, and let stand for 2 to 3 minutes. Microwave instructions are to combine the l1 cup liquid, 1/2 cup oats and pinch of salt in a 2 cup microwave safe bowl, microwave on high for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes and give the oatmeal a stir before serving. Also is excellent for use in baking cookies, muffins, etc.To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in September 2022 the Best By date is 15 months in the future but dates will vary.

Better than quaker oats
I’m a huge fan of oatmeal. I have a bowl practically every morning. For the past year I’ve been on a health and fitness journey, and Oatmeal has become my breakfast food of champions.I’ve tried a lot of different brands of oatmeals, and usually I steer clear of organic oats since they can have more of an earthy flavor. This one doesn’t!! In fact this is the complete opposite of what I’m used to. There is no earthy, grainy flavor here. It’s so moist and delicious, and 10x better than my regular quaker oats brand.A few things I noticed was the actual oat flakes are a touch smaller than quaker oats, and the portion size is smaller as well. Quaker oats has a serving size of a 1/2 cup whereas this has a serving size of 1 oz….which is equivalent to a 1/3 cup. It also has more protein, less calories, and kept me full much longer than my regular oats… which is a win, win for me!Overall, I love that it’s organic, it’s super tasty, has more protein and it keeps me full longer than my regular oatmeal. For a 6 lb. bag it’s slightly more than my regular cereal, but the benefits are clearly there. I will be making the switch!Hope you found my comments and photos helpful.

A pantry staple that cooks well and tastes good
These rolled oats are so easy to prepare and versatile. They cook quickly for traditional oatmeal porridge, and I’ve used them in baking several times and they performed just as well as certain brand-name oatmeals.I like buying in bulk, and I’ve had good experiences with all the foods I’ve received from Food to Live. The oatmeal came in a resealable bag and it stores well; we had a little bit at the bottom of the bag that we forgot about, so it didn’t get used for a couple of months, and it tasted just as good as the first cup of oatmeal we ate when we originally got the bag.

Instructions?
These oats taste just fine, like any oatmeal you’d expect I’d say, but preparation is apparently meant to be an experiment. The bag has no instructions on it at all, I had to reference another brand to figure out how much water to oats to add! One serving is only 1oz, a bizarrely small amount and not very easy to measure if you don’t have a scale. I did figure out that 3 servings (3oz) is right about 1 cup of oats, which is much easier to figure out for people like me. For the 1 cup of oats, I added 1.5 cups of boiling water into them to cook them, plus some Nipa palm sugar and cinnamon. That filled my bowl completely, but I forgot to take a picture before I ate most of it. They taste as expected, but are way too expensive for what you get and I’m not impressed that they failed to provide any instructions whatsoever on the packaging.

Costly Organic Rolled Oats Can’t Even Print Cooking Directions On Bag
I ordered these quick-cooking rolled oats because they’re organic, and the bag has a USDA Organic seal to prove that. What it doesn’t have are any simple directions on how to cook the oats. Yes, many people already know how to do that or they may have other uses for the oats, but this still seems like an important omission. At $17.50 for 1.5 pounds of oats, it also seems like a small request. Our local grocery sells 18 oz. of organic rolled oats for $4….and their cylinder box contains both stovetop and microwave directions.
