Truly a Princess Worthy of Your Attention !
This book allows little brown girls to enjoy this genre of story ( the "cute" little princess in pink ) without feeling as though they have to compromise any aspect of how they view themselves. I also like the fact that the princess is self determined, loves to read is beautiful but not reliant on her looks and of course it is wonderful to have a figure of color celebrate the innate beauty and magic of something that makes them "the other" ( in this case hair ) without the entire story becoming twisted and preachy in order to fulfill this need.It is not an uncomplicated issue writing ( though this is for her children, it also reaches beyond that ) "for" "others" and in some cases these kind of projects make me feel rather uneasy, this book was not like that... it is not trying to be a saviour to a people nor does it seek barking overt tactics. In fact, just like the best ( I mean most effective ) racism the story uses subversive tactics to help ensure that little girls with poofy curly hair can stay or fall in love with their clouds without it becoming "a thing", that is, in the most magical way. It is quite simply a story much like the ones your little girls gravitate towards but can't ever see themselves in but this time, there they are. ( I should also say that outside of a lead lady of colour this is also just a better class of book compared to what you usually get with these kinds of stories. I highly recommend it for all little girls who are into this kind of stuff. )P.S. As adult opinions in children's matters seldom amount to much I should also mention that my four year old loves it and reads it to herself frequently !

Perfect for my child!
I so love this book and for some reason my daughter cracks up over any mention of Bun the Bunny. I discovered this book on a blog and sought it out for my African American daughter. As a conscious black parent, I rely on quality dolls, book and media to assist in making sure that what she reads and plays with offers her a positive sense of who she is, who she can become and what others like her are doing out in the world. Princess Truly is a very whimsical character in fairytale form that is a far cry from the role of side-kick, tongue and cheek banter often seen in black character in the media (kids included) and gives her something (safe) to giggle at, idolize and share with her friends.

Best of its kind!
This is a truly delightful book. There are a lot of self-published books coming out about natural hair and beautiful black and brown babies these days. That's a good thing, but not all of the books are as good as I'd like them to be. This one is a real treat. A good story that my daughter loves to hear over & over (and I don't mind reading again & again!) and simply lovely illustrations. Princess Truly is not a stereotypical princess in any way -- which is so rare & refreshing. This book will stand the test of time. Hope Kelly Greenawalt has some more adventures for Princess Truly up her sleeve!

New Favorite!
I recently got this book to read for my kindergarten class. I had been looking for books with main characters that were not white, and I saw a review for it. I am IN LOVE! It is the cutest story about Princess Truly who is very smart and asks lots of questions who helps a little girl who's carrot garden won't grow. It has gorgeous illustrations and is beautifully written. My students loved it. I immediately bought the other two Princess Truly books. I hope there are many more to come!

What a great find! Not only is the story charming
What a great find! Not only is the story charming, but the illustrations are superb. Amariah Rauscher continues to produce illustrations with a warmth and richness that she's known for. I will definitely be purchasing all the other Princess Truly books and any other books from this series and from this duo.

Magical book!
My 3 yo daughter loves this book! When I asked her what she liked about it, she said the magical hair. :) I like a book that showcases an African American girl, who loves books, is a problem solver and embraces her naturally curly hair! To top it off, the illustrations are beautiful. I hope there are more Princess Truly books coming because we are an instant fan!

Great book for toddlers too!
Princess Truly is a thoughtful and caring young lady that my 2 y/o Daughter adores. The story and illustrations kept her engaged and she couldn't wait to find out how the hungry bunny problem would be solved. Definitely recommend for toddlers as well as older children who are reading or learning how to. I also appreciate the use of so many descriptive words to increase my child's vocabulary.

This is a must for every little girls library
I purchased this book for my granddaughters and my niece and they absolutely love this book because Princess Truly has big curly hair like theirs and she helps to solve a problem. The illustrations are beautiful and my sister purchased prints to decorate my nieces room with them. We can't wait for Princess Truly's next adventure. This book should be in every little girls library.

Great Protaganist
Bought this book for my twin cousins for their birthday. For religious reasons they are not encouraged to read anything including magic but I was only aware of this after I gifted them this. And I dont regret it! Its a wonderful little story that sees a dark skinned curlied hair little girl as a princess! And it lovely for them to see someone who looks like them in a fairy tale.My only gripe is that the front cover print is a bit out of focus and the fonts and picture editing in the book could be better. But these are all things that are lost on two 5-year-olds.

I like everything about this book
I like everything about this book, and so does my three year old son. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it gets a bit too cutesy for me at times. Princess Truly is a great character though.

Postive role model for curly-haired girls
I bought this for my very curly-haired 3 year old granddaughter. It's a cute story, Princess Truly is an engaging and capable character. We all enjoyed it well-enough.
