Clean water is everyone's responsibility
Author Wanda Luthman follows up her charming book Franky the Finicky Flamingo (The Cure for a Picky Eater) with an equally delightful tale that takes Franky on a quest to find his perfect drink. Thinking that it might be pink - just like he is - Franky’s journey leads him instead to a polluted water source filled with trash and debris that also litters the surrounding beach. This unacceptable contamination of a precious water source inspires Franky to activism, and motivates other to join him. As they quickly clean up the rubbish and make the water deliciously, sparkling clean, we find ourselves wishing it could be so for us humans. Told in easy, rhythmic poetry and vividly illustrated by the talented Mara Reitsma, Franky the Thirsty Flamingo is a beautiful treasure of a story that imparts an important message for children that respecting and caring for our world is everyone’s responsibility.

Great for teaching kids about teamwork to help keep the world cleaner and litter free
"Franky the Thirsty Flamingo" is a great story to teach kids not to litter. The story is written in rhyme and the pattern works very well. Franky sets out to find something to drink. When he figures out what he wants, is it too late? The fresh water he was looking for has litter in it!The story is great for teaching kids about teamwork to help keep the world cleaner and litter free. This would be a great story for kids around ages 4-6.
