Excellent book for beginners
Bought this book for my 8 year old. The book arrived in a very good condition with excellent packaging. The quality of the book is good. This is a very good book for beginners. This book has been recommended by the teacher. The illustrations are very good and perfectly explained in simple language which can be easily understood by beginners. I would definitely recommend this book. This book also arrived quickly.

A great help
I bought this for my daughter (8) following her new keyboard for her birthday. It has really helped to give her the technique and she has got much greater enjoyment out of her music since!Other reviews had said that it was aimed at very young children but I would say that it is great for any age of beginner. I found it very useful too as it explains each key and music reading stage by stage.

Lovely First Book
I bought this for my 7 year old daughter as recommended by her keyboard teacher after her first ever lesson. She has progressed exceptionally well with it bearing in mind she only started 20 minute sessions once a week 2 months ago. She finds the book easy to follow and understand and can practice on her own with it.

Would highly recommend (with one serious reservation)
Great selection of tunes and attractive presentation. From a teacher's point of view, it would be much better if not all the notes were labelled, because this encourages a "painting by numbers" approach to reading music (which is not really reading the music at all!) so when students transfer to other books which don't have the letters written in, they are totally lost! However it is easy to get round this - I just colour in most of the black note-heads so the children learn to read the notes as they would in a piano tutor. It's worth the effort because the students learn to read faster and more confidently in the long run, but they get the benefit of the great range of tunes which this tutor provides. Having said that, having the letters written in makes it easy for someone to teach themselves to play if they don't have lessons...it just means they will have to learn to read music properly before they can play the music in other books. Unlike some other keyboard books, this book encourages the use of the keyboards Voice/Style features (Yamaha) or Tone/Rhythm features (Casio keyboards), use of chords (fingered and single-fingered) as well as improvisation/composition etc A really good all-round resource for children aged 5-8 who want to learn the keyboard.

Excellent tutor for youngsters
A great book for starting young players off on the keyboard - has lots of tunes they will already know plus lots of new ones that are easy to learn. A great introduction to the first group of right-hand notes and three essential chords - C, G and F. Great for supplementing individual tuition.

Great book for young beginners of the keyboard
I've been using this book for years and it's really good for young children, from the ages of 5 to 9, who are starting to learn the keyboard. It takes the student through the right hand notes of C D E F G and then progresses onto chords in the left hand. Highly recommeded.

An Apps Better
Books extremely basic and more of a mess around oppose to a tool that'll teach how to play keyboard. Personally would download an app such as Simply Piano instead.

This is a great beginner book! There is a DVD included with just the hands playing the lessons on the keyboard too. While the DVD is not much for entertainment, it has completely held my five-year-old's interest because he is so eager to learn how to play keyboard. He watched the DVD, then with some guidance and help from mom, he was able to play the beginning lessons on his own. The colorful drawings and "song" names are also great for his interest level. He will sit and practice the pages on his own following a few minutes of adult-guided instruction. I would recommend this to an early learner who is interested in learning. I think we will progress beyond the level of this book fairly quickly, but that is a good thing if the basics in this book stick with my son.
