Perfect results, easily.
In the past I have tried cutting bevel edges in mounts using sharp Stanley knives, scalpels, etc. But never succeeded in getting perfect results. Wasted lots of card, risked cutting fingers, and after spending lots of time was never happy with the mount. So I decided to get a proper mount cutter. Reviews led me to this Logan Mount Cutter as being the best value for money. It is much more expensive than a few Stanley blades but everyone seemed to suggest this was the only way to make professional looking mounts. It arrived. I made a mount to test it, not bothering to be particularly careful. It was perfect. This little device is easy to use, safe (the blade is kept concealed and only emerges a few mm into the card when you press on the plastic handle) and it cuts through the card without effort. It is supplied with a few spare blades. I don't know how long each blade will last, but I've made a dozen mounts and the first blade seems just as sharp as when I started.Comparing the price of blank card with ready cut mounts, I am saving a few pounds per picture by cutting my own; so this Cutter might even pay for itself soon.A few tips:A small screwdriver is used to adjust the depth of the cut; set it so the blade only just goes through the mount card you are using. You will also need a sheet of scrap card (I used hardboard) underneath as a cutting table. On the back of the mount you draw pencil lines where you want to cut. Clamp a straight edge up to the line, and then just run the Logan Cutter along the straight edge.I used a metal straight edge and a pair of quick release clamps to hold everything tight to the table top. Using this arrangement there is no limit to the size of mount you could cut; small or large.A great little gadget that I recommend.

Simple, easy to use, does exactly what it should! Very pleased.
Easy to use, although it took me several goes to realise that I needed to use a lot more pressure to get a quicker, cleaner cut. However, it does exactly what it should do, which makes it a great bargain. Love the edge guidemark showing me where to start and where to finish the cut. Daler-Rowney also have a super video showing how to use the cutter, and that was really helpful, as I'd never cut mount-boards before. The first one I did was excellent and was put into its frame and onto the wall immediately, saving a lot of money!

Does the job
I wanted to cut a number of picture mounts, and considered the cheaper ones first but the reviews were mostly negative. This one seemed to have good reviews, though expensive, so I bought it. I found it easy to use and that it provided a good cut, that can be adjusted to suit the card thickness. Spare bladed were also included. I would recommend.

Excellent Quality. Blades come with and very handy marker at the back!
This product is excellent quality for cutting mounts with precision. The weight of the metal helps for the pressure needed when cutting. The blades provided are super sharp and will each last a long time. The little line at the back, didnt know what that was for til i was using it, its for lining up to the exact place you want to stop the cut, very usefull, cuts out the guess work. Very happy with this product.

Bad manufacture
Unfortunately, having waited for this bit of kit for 2 weeks, on opening it and trying to fit a blade I found that the track for the blade to go through had been manufactured badly and was completely blocked. Therefore, you couldn’t even fit a blade, let alone cut a piece of mounting board. Disappointed to say the least.

For cutting bevelled windows on mount boards
This may appear expensive for just a cutter, but it is a brilliant design and well engineered. I saved by not going for the parallel guide bars which would have tripled the cost (I am not intending to cut hundreds of boards). Plenty of guidance on Youtube. It is not exactly easy to master, but like anything, practise makes perfect. Blades can be turned to double their life and there are spares provided. I haven't tried cheap plastic versions, but I doubt that they work as well. I used a long steel rule as a guide - it has a handle to keep it firmly in place - I couldn't have done it without this. Overall I'm very pleased. Next step making frames!

Really good quality mount cutter.
This angled mount cutter was not the cheapest on offer but having read some reviews of the cheaper versions decided to go for quality. I'm glad I did. I am new to using these but after minimal practice I was soon up and running and turning out good mounts. I expect this tool to last a long time.

Waste of money
Found it impossible to use. Tried it with a variety of different board thickness and could not get a straight line cut.
