Disappointed . A nicely bound book but very basic ideas within . The only content of interest appertained to the work of other potters who are described as inspirations ...it's basically paper resist technique which might have been covered in a couple of pages...mmm

I love this book and my students love it too! It very thoroughly explains different surface techniques. It not only explains the steps, but will also show you what materials you need to complete each, and examples of artists who really utilize each technique in their work. The photos are beautiful. It includes Molly Hatch's templates and various glaze/slip recipes. There is even a resource page which will point you in the direction of more information in the back of the book. SO GREAT! If you're contemplating buying it, I would definitely recommend it!

Beautifully illustrated and easy to understand.

It's always in to see how other artists work. Hatch invites you to her studio as well as exposing you to other other artists and their work. Techniques are explained with simplicity and beautifully done imagery. It's like taking a class with Molly herself!

Excellent instructional book for those new to pottery. Easy to follow step by step directions on several different surface design techniques with photos, examples and templates. Also love that it is spiral bound and lays flat.

I bought this book to give me some new ideas for my ceramics students. Many of the techniques were familiar but I liked the explanations in this book. It doesn't feel intimidating and has a "you can do this" style. Beautiful images too!
