I bought this as a safe and natural alternative to vaseline for extremely dry hands, lips and elbows. I was expecting it to have a strong smell but it actually smells less than vaseline and not at all sheepy. It's very sticky and difficult to apply but I would say the result is worth it. Unfortunately it isn't organic so it makes me wonder if it truly is as safe and natural as I would like; the price is good though. Overall I'm happy because the moisturizing and barrier properties are excellent.

During the colder months I get eczema around my eyes. It's very predictable... the weather changes and out it comes. I try to moisturise my eyes and keep it away, but it just doesn't work well. I hate using steroid creams, especially on my face, but it's always been a necessary evil.Someone suggested to me I try a pure lanolin, so I ordered this. I've been using it for a month or so now and I've been very impressed. It doesn't improve my eczema when it's out, but I've found that if I can get on top of it and have clear skin then putting this on before I go outside seems to stop it from coming out. It's basically just acting as a barrier, but it's doing it very well. I've also found it helps on the skin between my fingers where I also suffer. Again it's the same story... helps to protect but not improve the condition of the skin.It is a bit greasy and leaves a film that I'm aware of... a bit like Vaseline, but it's nothing I couldn't (and haven't) got used to.The 207ml pot is massive too. I'd not appreciated how little I would use each time. After a month I've barely dented the surface of the pot.Speaking of the surface, the lanolin is a fairly solid wax-like block. When getting some out I rub my fingers over the surface and the heat from my fingers melts (if that's the right word) just enough to use. As I've already said you don't need much. I had expected something that was more like a thick honey, but that's not what I've got.I've also read suggestions of using almond oil with it to sooth the skin, and at some point I'm going to try melting some of the lanolin in a pan and mixing it with some almond oil. Hopefully it will combine and make it easier to apply, but it may just separate... I'll report back once I've tried it out.Final thing to note... I've not noticed any smell at all from the lanolin when it's on my skin. It does have a slight odour in the pot, but it's not an issue for me.Overall a good product.Update 8/8/2017:********************I've now tried combining the lanolin with almond oil and it works really well. I put some almond oil in a small plastic pot and then a dessert spoon of lanolin in with that, placed the lid on loosely and then microwaved it until the lanolin had melted. I then mixed it together with a match stick and left it to cool. What I was left with was a much more honey like consistency which is easier to apply to the skin and works just as well as the pure lanolin. I'm not sure it works to sooth particularly (probably personal opinion it's worth a try), but I now use this on my daughter's eczema as a barrier too as it's so much easier to apply.You can add more or less almond oil to have a runnier or thicker consistency. My advice is to use a little and add more if necessary. I've found that you can go through the microwave process multiple times without adversely effecting the lanolin or oil.Oh and 2 years later I still have more than 3/4 of the pot left and it's still exactly as it was when it first arrived.

Very thick and super hydrating. I use it at night on my feet and then sleep with socks on. My feet are super smooth the next day. I would be careful spreading it freely on the body as it may then stain your clothes. It's very greasy.It does have a bit of a smell applying it but it goes away after washing your hands

Came fast and as expected. I purchased this to use as a lip balm after having used lanolips lip balm and falling In love with it. I figured, like most people who purchased this, that since lanolips is 100% lanolin, why not just purchase it direct. So I did here. It is such a better bargain buying this product. It’s great for lips and any dry skin.Here is my only issue, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars: the smell is a little weird and using it on your lips means you can taste it a little and it takes getting used to. For some reason lanolips smells decent and doesn’t have the same weird taste or smell. But they claim no perfumes or frangrance is added in lanolips, So I don’t know why. This stuff is a little thicker and more waxy feeling as well. I wouldn’t let it put you off buying this one as I imagine it is a characteristic of pure lanolin and not this brand itself. This is certainly the best overall pure lanolin product so far.Overall: worth it and it works fabulously. Definitely a cheaper and worthy alternative to buying other products made with this stuff. If you plan to use this on your lips like me, I just recommend using it at night and first thing in the am. Also, I’m going to add some lemon essential oil which is supposed to be a great natural exfoliant and work great in combination with the lanolin. That will definitely help the smell and taste.

Oh, wow. I have never experienced pure lanolin before, and after just one use, I'm hooked. I bought this stuff for use in homemade cosmetics, but I am in the middle of an eczema flare-up, and nothing has helped. So out of curiosity I spread some on, and it feels SO GOOD! The skin isn't dry and cracked anymore, and the itching subsided. Then I put some on my lips. You see, I'm a chapstick junkie, my lips are so sensitive I have to reapply it every few minutes or else my lips crack, it's really something. I can't even wear lipstick or gloss cuz it doesn't hydrate enough and the skin becomes tight. But this lanolin has not only made my lips SUPER SOFT, it has real staying power! It lasts much longer than chapstick. I put it on hours ago and I still don't need to put on more yet.Also, how do I put this...the smell is kind of surprising. There's a faint smell of sheep. But in a really really good way. It's kinda hard to describe. It doesn't smell bad at all, it's kinda comforting actually, like cuddling a little lamb. If you're not sold on that though, don't worry, like I said it's very faint. You really need to get it right up to your nose to smell it. Personally I really like it though. I kinda wanna hug a sheep now.
