Made from the highest quality sterlised peat to exacting standards, Jiffy-7 Peat pellets are widely used in commercial horticulture across the globe.By far the best selling size of those listed below is the 41mm x 42mm, this size fits perfectly into any of our Grodan Transplanting Cubesthat are listedashaving alarge hole. Simply place the pellets into a saucer or propagator (hole side up - you will see what we mean when you have them in front of you), add a little tepid tap water to the bottom of the container and watch them expandover a 20 minuteor so period. The pellets have a PH of 5.3 so the is no need to PH adjust the tap water, they are also fully fertilised so nutrients are alsounnecessary at this stage. If seeds are going into them make a littleholein the top of the peat about 5mm deep, drop the seed in and gently recover. For cuttings simply make a hole deep into the pellet with a cocktail stick of similar object, take the cutting and dip in Clonex or BabyBio Roota then push the stem approx 2/3 of the way down into the pellet. When it's firmly seatedvery gently press the peat down around the stem of the cutting to make sure no air can get in and to add support. When roots show you can either pop the pellet down into a Grodan Transplanting cube as mentioned above, or if the plant will be going into soil we recommend adding some Plagron Lightmix to a 8cm Jiffy Coir Pot and planting on into these. The sizes below are measured when fully expanded and refer to width x height - quantity.

Not just for plant ties.
These are so simple to use as plant support and are re-usable.they are alsouseful as cable ties as around computer wires when you have a lot to tidy up.

Great jiffys as always
Jiffys are an easy option for seeds and cuttings. Bought these plenty of times from this seller and always a great service. This time only 75 jiffys in the bag rather than 100 that I ordered but hey ho still not gonna make a fuss as mistakes do happen

Compost
Not fully tested yet brought a batch tried one out and it swells 10 times it’s size.

They have worked for me
Ok....they are peat, and we are aware of the plight of peat bogs....this has been widely recognised and is being tackled, albeit slowly. My reasoning for buying this peat product was that it has enabled me to propagate many cuttings in tiny amounts of peat which can then be transplanted into the garden or soils suitable for houseplants. I have (very successfully) propagated clematis, fuschia, sage, rosemary, tarragon among others. Admittedly in a propagator with additional lighting......my success rate has been exceptional. I intend to make my next purchase coir pellets so that I can compare.

A great aid for growing seedlings.
Great to use instead of messing with small pots and lots of compost, which can be messy. These are great to use as all you need to do is place the amount you need into a tray big enough to hold your required quantity and deep enough to fill with enough water to make them swell up.There is a minus point though, when you're ready to plant them in the ground, the material covering the peat pellet is NOT bio degradable as it is made of plastic, so I would advise removing the outer cover before planting on.

Very pleased
Very pleased with these. I also brought a cheaper version , but the Jiffy ones were much better. Also the bigger size is much better, the little ones fall apart.
