I was rather sceptical at first due its flat design. however it works far better than the standard round type airlock. it is also quite easy to top up. other good point is the type of plastic. all the round ones I have are cracked in one way or other this one is flexible but firm. not brittle like the round ones or U bend type.It is a good design and does the job well. worth the money will definitely buy again.

...to all other standard airlocks that I've used over the years for brewing beer. Compact, durable, easy to use, and generally just work better. Make sure not to overfill and you shouldn't have any major issues with wort blowing out. What I particularly like is that you can much more easily remove/refit lid of fermenting bin without fear of water sucking in. A good design feature. Very pleased and intending to buy more now I've tested.

I use these airlocks solely for fermenting sauerkraut, and each batch has been the same as the last since I started using them. The smaller profile means they sit more securely – not being top heavy – and aren't as liable as the taller ones to tipping or getting knocked accidentally. This does mean they can't hold as much water, but as long as you check regularly this isn't an issue. All in all they're great, and a good price. If I ever need more I wouldn't think twice about buying these again.

Was using a mixture of the 'S' type and top hat style airlocks from Wilkinsons. I much prefer these - made out of polypropylene, so not brittle. Easy to clean, easy to sanitise, fits standard 10mm grommets (search an auction site, cable ones are the same as brewing ones!), top clips in securely to base.Happy to re-purchase these.

i like these.. i usually use the taller "normal" air locks but because these are more compact i found the demi jons fitted in to my airing cupboard much easier. i think if you had a very vigorous ferment there might be a chance that the air could blow the water out but it certainly didnt happen to me.. would definitely buy again

These airlocks are very narrow, probably around only 10mm thick. When the airlock bubbles, the low height and narrowness of the airlock results in water being expelled from the airlock until the water level is very low (below the ‘recommended fill line’) – and it then evaporates over time and means I need to keep an eye on in case a refill is needed.The airlock is quiet though.

I gave up using the airlocks with six bubbles because cleaning them was nearly impossible! It took day of soaking in bleach solution to clean them. With these I just use a small bottle brush and the job is done. Highly recommended.

Good but not as good as the normal ones. However can’t grumble at the price
