Nice quality, sturdy and convenient to fit and setup
I am really pleased with this device, which I have installed on the eaves of the house to split an aerial signal to two television sets. The item has been built with the user in mind and so it was easy to setup and fit. The only drawback for me is that it uses F connectors, where I would much prefer if it had belling-lee sockets as F connectors are fiddly to fit to coax cables.Once installed, the device delivers high-strength and high-quality signals to both TV sets. This has raised the signal level and strength to 10/10 and allows me to receive all channels from the local Mendip transmitter about 30 Km away. It also raises the signal from the more distant Wenvoe transmitter, about 80km away, by enough to allow me to receive the main PSB channels - BBC One Wales, BBC Two Wales, ITV Wales and S4C - in addition to the local Bristol output from Mendip. One word of advice - the unit comes with the amplification set to the maximum of 25 dB - I had to turn this down to the 12 dB setting or the signal was too strong on Mendip and this reduced reception of some channels. This is easy to do with a Philips screwdriver and adjusting the amplification downwards worked a treat. All in all, this was a good buy for a quality, well-made piece of kit.

Good solution for loft antenna systems.
My existing rooftop aerial had reception issues; probably caused by water ingress into the balun. Reception dropped out from Crystal Palace in the rain. I knew this was the case because we have a high gain Hannington antenna from Fracarro in the loft complete with amp which feeds into the IRS (Integrated Reception System) along with satellite dishes. This carried on working perfectly in the rain. I also had bought a high gain triboom antenna from Maplins when it folded for a knockdown price (15 dB gain and 25dB front-to-back ratio). I therefore had a choice: get this antenna fitted on the roof or put it in the loft and connect it to the IRS with an amp as we have power in the loft. It took ten minutes to do this. I used the Freeview postcode checker to get the direction and used the compass on my phone for perfect alignment, The amp is connected to the aerial and its output to the power supply and the PSU lights up when you plug it in: markings are self explanatory. I recommend you buy the F adapters if you don't have the right cables but the IRS in the loft uses F connectors so it wasn't a problem for me. I used a Philips screwdriver to adjust the gain on the amp as it was too powerful and drowning out a Technomate digital modulator set to Channel 21 (Crystal Palace uses Ch E22). Once this was backed off everything worked perfectly. We have a new Sony TV which gives quasi-professional readouts of the signal profile unlike some other TV manufacturers; signal levels and quality were 100%, BER was 0.0 and C/N (carrier-to- noise) averaged 30.0dB ( You need 20.0dB minimum for the main DVB-T1 and DVB-T2 transmissions in the UK, although local TV is lower.). All Tvs round the house all work perfectly from Crystal Palace even in heavy rain. If you have a loft distribution system and mains power the use of a high gain antenna and variable gain amp is a much better and cheaper option than replacing an external antenna; fix it and forget it.

Easy installation
I purchased this as I added an additional TV in the bedroom and the existing booster system only catered for one aerial outlet. Very easy to install (my booster is located in the attic, whilst the aerial is externally installed on the roof). Great picture and good value.

Works a treat !!!
Only needed the section that plugged into the mains after my previous Wolsey unit stopped working (after 10+ years). I live in a very poor reception area & without a booster I receive zero channels on my smart T.V. Once the new unit was plugged in after a few minutes I could receive multiple channels, both HD & SD. It just works !!!!

Masthead amplifier.....top quality product
No instructions....but if you're ordering this you know it is straight forward and I now get all channels at my static van...where reception was very very poor..fix amp about a meter away from aerial...on the pole...fixings included....feed the aerial into the amp....and then connect the two outputs to the TVs as normal......then finally add the power unit into one of the TV feeds...plug it in and hey presto....brilliant The variable gain is important....as this needed adjusting to get best reception.....many don't have this feature on them....it's only been on one day but feels a quality product
