Great game but buy the PC version or prepare to miss out.
As a fan of Payday and Payday 2 on the PS3 it has been a lot of fun to finally play al the awesome DLC that PC gamers have had over the last year. The core game has been updated with new jobs, weapons, characters and the Fugitive skill tree. My one gripe is that already the next gen console versions are lagging in terms of the new DLC. Great game but buy the PC version or prepare to miss out.

Now there's an update for consoles, you should definitely play it!
Now that the game has finally received an update, I can recommend this game to any fan of the crime genre. If you've seen such films as Point Break, Heat, and Reservoir Dogs, you know what to expect. It sounds simple: go in, get loot, get out. But things like randomly generated cameras, guard placement and difficulty make each heist unique. The game can be frustrating at first, and some servers have terrible connection (but maybe that's just an issue on my end), but this game is a blast, and lets you experience what it's like to steal from the rich and give to yourself, all without the fear of a prison term. There's some extra content on the disc, a massive update gives you some more, and there's 10 premium DLC packs that give you new characters, weapons, locales and masks. Well worth playing, especially with friends.

A very boring, tedious game that felt very underwhelming to play
Not as expected at all. A very boring, tedious game that felt very underwhelming to play!

I first played Payday: The Heist on Playstation 3 and it was on the basis of that game, and the fun I had had playing it despite some of the problems it had. I subsequently bought Payday 2 when it was originally released for the Playstation 3 and again it was fun, at times, but again there were a lot of problems with it.And so now we have the brand new 'Crimewave' Edition of Payday 2 for the Playstation 4. The graphics have been updated, SOME of the downloadable content that is available for the PC has been included and little bits and pieces seems to have been ' improved'.The game itself can be fun, CAN being the word here as it all depends on the difficulty of the job, the people you play with, their skills and levels, there is enough of a variety in the type of heist you can do, the various difficulty levels and the slight differences each time you play them with the placement of certain things being randomized, in addition there are plenty of mods for your weapons and masks which you collect from the card game at the end of each successful heist to keep you interested. It is however the problems with the game which have made this a 3/5 star review, for as much fun as I have had playing Payday 2 there are so many things wrong with it that it can not just spoil your enjoyment of the game but completely put you off playing some times. I do not know how the other console version fairs but some of the problems with the PS4 include:* Slight lag as you enter the basement at your safehouse* A horrible menu screen to choose between jobs* Timing out of jobs when you attempt to join them* Game crashing throwing you onto the PS4's error reporting menu* Poor port as majority of errors identical to those experienced on PS3 version or simply terrible coding* Still no sign of update to safe house despite it being mentioned by Bain when you first enter it* Game forces you to grind levels to progress, 'Infamy' means losing $200m offshore funds, spending money, all skills and money spent buying them* No in-game microphone function to communicate with other players* Poor community, people very quick to kick from game for no reason, players doing their own thing, not knowing how to play the game* Single player tacked on, 1-less heister (3 instead of 4), AI heist members are useless and for the most part do not follow orders, can not carry bags, or assist with heist.* Not all content currently available on PC is available on console version ('The Hoxton Breakout' but no 'Hoxton Revenge') with no indication there are plans for it to be released* Developer/publisher seemingly uninterested in complaints**edit** November 2015I have downgraded this review to a one star review due to recent events which have seen the developer now add micro-transactions to the PC version of the game after promising this would never happen and the continued ignorant attitude show by Overkill towards console gamers on both the PS4 and X-Box One platforms that has seen very little activity if any in regards to updates and patches to fix ongoing problems (in fact the X-Box players are still having problems connecting to crime month nearly five months after release) as well as the two-tier system they have which continues to deprive console gamers of a large chunk of content that is available for the PC version of this game.

Payday 2 is OK but I found it got a little repetitive after some time.
Payday 2 is not a bad terrible game but it does get a little repetitive, and needs some improvement for single player gamers, to describe It, it's kind of like a PVE style bank robbery game which Im not a fan of PVP or PVE games, but you can choose to play this game on your own, only thing is if your a single player gamer, then this game can get repetitive hugely repetitive, it's ashame because you can get John wick as a character in game which is what drew me to play it. There is alot of world weapons in game but it didn't draw me in like GTA V did which is a way better game with bank robberies and of course it sandbox. But it falls flat in comparison to gta because it's got no direction in the game, it feels kind of empty and bland really, it's a shame because it's got alot of potential. While it's not a terrible game it just gets a bit repetitive after an hour or two.

Amazing franchise
I absolutely love the Payday franchise, from Payday: The Heist to this current edition. It's a game focused on the gameplay with decent graphics. From the previous generation's standard Payday 2 edition, the Crimewave Edition for the current generation features all the added content from the PC version. It's a great game for strategists that love to develop new tactics, but can be an unpredictable game. However, a concern I do have from the previous generation is that Overkill seem to focus more on the PC version of the game, rather than the console. For this reason, future development could be a concern. Although, there is enough content to keep you happy for a long time so it shouldn't be too big a worry.
