Modern Designs for Classic Quilts: 12 Traditionally Inspired Patterns Made New

I have completed sewing the modern log cabin quilt, which is on the cover. The quilt itself is easily cut and put together, but would appear somewhat complex to a non quilter when given as a gift. This is an excellent pattern for displaying your own home machine or longarm quilting, as the pattern is very modern in appearance and sleek.I intend to start another of the patterns in the book this week, and expect to more than get my moneys worth in using the patterns and ideas. This is a well written book.

I loved the play on color and how they blocks were arranged, so I bought this book. Overall this book is very interesting, but I will probably only end up making the quilt on the cover. I am very into bright colors. I did find the unusual colors used in the traditional blocks very attractive and the kind of outside the box thinking I like to see, so while not the most astounding book out there, I still think it merits 4 out of 5 stars.

Truly, this is the best quilting book I have bought yet ~ it's witty and entertaining and totally makes you want to read the basics of stitching even if you've been sewing for years. This book contains amazing spins on various quilt patterns that are easy to understand and follow to help everyone grasp a modern approach and learn how to accomplish these patterns. It's beautifully laid out with amazing detail to the stitching and the photographs bring the quilts to life making you desperate to recreate these gorgeous inspirations! It's truly a fabulous read and must have to add to any library!

I would recommend this book to anyone trying to develope or improve their machine quilting skills. I've read other machine quilting books, but I think this one is best. The instructions are clear and concise and realistic. I especially like that she's taken into consideration that most of us have only our regular home machine and that our needs might be different than the needs of a long armer.

This is a fantastic book and a great addition to any quilter's library - modern or otherwise. In addition to the patterns for the quilts and several other small projects, there are really simple illustrated instructions for lots of common techniques, such as english paper piecing, foundation paper piecing and installing zippers. It's a great reference not only for the projects in the book but for lots of other projects. I'll use this book again and again!

A dozen creative and beautiful quilts. A lot of really great and useful information for a beginner such as myself. Easy to follow tutorials for each of the quilts. It has difficulty levels from beginner to advanced. A lot of different methods for quilting techniques. I enjoyed reading through this book, which has a lot of pictures and illustrations. I can't wait to try making one of these quilts!

Nice looking contemporary quilts - I would like to try several of them! Good illustrations for cutting and assembly. Wish there would have been more to look at in the book preview, but after seeing a friend's book, I knew I wanted my own copy. Received in a timely fashion.

I don't always like modern quilts but this book caught my attention. The colors & patterns used are appealing and there are a variety to chose from. You can easily change the borders to enlarge or decrese the size of your quilt which is a bonus to me.Sharon B.

This book is great for any quilter except the most experienced. There are some different ideas and colourways. There is a lot of reading and the information is very useful. It will be used many times and will be a valued item in my quilting book collection.

Even as a beginner, I am thinking about making the quilt on the front cover! There are many beautiful projects, all extremely well explained. A pleasure to look through and very inspiring! Wonderful book!
