Description says it's German steel, but the Features and Details says that it's Japanese. Which is it?

I've also seen this type of steel in a mercer knife on nisbets and they specifically said that the steel is Japanese steel so i would not know who to believe

can this knife be sharpened

I've sharpened with steel as well as water stones. It's still in excellent condition. Mainly I use a spare leather strop to manage the burr after each use, with the steel occasionally if I feel its edge going. I use my Waterstones rarely and tend to sharpen multiple knives and straight razers.

Does the blade have a cover ?

No but i clean it and keep it in its box for the moment. its a good knife tho.

Does this knife come with a box to keep it in? Or a gift box?

No it does not, I have mine on a magnetic strip on kitchen wall.
