All the right songs, not the right words, not the right accents...
The conclusion to this review - I binned these CDs in favour of the the BBC CD Wheels on the Bus (Pre School Songs) .Why? The CDs in this collection are American, I'm British. The versions on these CDs may well be true to American culture and tradition but they have nothing to do with the nursery rhymes and children's songs I remember from my British childhood. The tunes may be the same but instead of being played at the 120bpm, they are slowed down to 80bpm, three hours of music could have been condensed into two. Even worse, are the sickly musical arrangements and whining voices. The tunes are more likely to make you fall asleep (or vomit) than create child geniuses. And finally, if you were in any doubt - the lyrics. I am well aware that over time words are changed to suit changes in political correctness - Jack no longer has his "nob" fixed with vinegar and brown paper for example - but when I heard that London Bridge was built up again with "ice-cream cones, telephones" I hit STOP on the CD player, and confined the CDs to the bin. I only gave this product one star because I couldn't give it any less.
